    Millie Scott

Been listening to two quality albums from the mid 80`s by Millie Scott. She had some brief success over here in the UK with her singles PRISONER OF LOVE (A dance hit in both Soul & hi-nrg clubs. She also had some further success with EVERY LITTLE BIT and the super track AUTOMATIC.
I love her first album (1986) which contains some quality tracks such as TOO HOT TO HANDLE & IF YOU CANT STAND THE HEAT. This must rate as one of my favourite albums from the 80`s.
Her follow up album was less successful but did spawn a minor soul hit with THE LETTER
It was great to dig these albums out of my collection this week and give them a spin...

    Hi,

I used to listen (and dance at disco) to Millie Scott's songs back in the 80s. Especially her smash hit ''Prisoner Of Love'' (1986) is an awesome electro-funky tune.

Millie's representative and long-out-of-print ''Love Me Right'' CD came out recently----Amazon US. It was released by two labels of Japan and EU (PTG Records) at around the same time. Strange to say, only EU's one has extra bonus tracks including the extended versions of ''Automatic'' and ''Prisoner Of Love'', so this one is a much better buy, I think.

Yes, they've been reissuing Millie Scott recently but the sophomore effort is nowhere to be found. Fortunately I got the original cd. As Energyguy rightly puts it these are among the very best albums of the decade and should not be ignored.
There's one seller on Amazon UK who wants £371.62 for the original cd edition of the debut album :icon_lol: Thankfully the reissue can be picked up for a tenner
    There was life after disco!!

I couldn't help but smile when after she released her first single Prisoner of love as Mildred Scott ; folks urged her to change her name to Millie !!!

Record Mirror even mentioned this in their review of the single

    Then she did...

Wow! Someone actually recalls Millie. Cool. I have both of these albums and their fantastic. Both were big hits with the people I knew and I played both of them a lot at the time. Included a lot of the songs from both albums on tapes I use to make for people. She was/is a great singer and produced some fabulous music. Sadly haven't heard anything from her since then.
