Did "The System" have a version, I know Millie Jackson did but it was slow!
Rackin my brain trying to remember the name of a disco dance song from the very early 80's or possibly late 70's.
It's a pretty fast song. They still play it at dance clubs all the time (at least they do here in So. Calif.)
I believe these are some of the lyrics:
"DIDN'T I BLOW YOUR MIND THIS TIME, NOW DIDN'T I"
"DIDN'T I BLOW YOUR MIND THIS TIME, NOW DIDN'T I"
"STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE"
"STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE, LOVE"
"STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE"
"STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE, LOVE"
And I'm not reffering to the old motown groups from which these lyrics were borrowed.
Thanks all.

How about "Standing In The Shadows of Love" by Fever?
It is on a 12 inch on Fantasy Records and was released in 1978.

Deborah Washington, who brought us "Rock it" also did a version of "Standing in the shadows of love" in late 70s.
DING, DING, DING, DING, I think we have a winner! Not sure yet but Needlefingers suggestion of "Standing In The Shadows of Love" by Fever looks like it might be the one! Fever was a group of three guys and I know that the song wasn't performed by a solo artist. You can hear it was a few people singing in unison on this song.
But if anyone else has a different suggestion, go ahead and share.
Thanks guys.
I concur. It's got to be the version by Fever. I think the lyrics you are referring to at the beginning are:Originally Written by dubya
DIDN'T I TREAT YOU RIGHT NOW BABY, DIDN'T I

Here is a snippet of the Fever version:
