Undisputed Truth "You+Me=Love" and similar tracks

Hey guys, a couple of months ago I bought this cd online "Disco Connection (Authentic Classic Disco 1976-1981)" and had no idea I'd find so many jewels in it. First of all my favorite this track by Unisputed Truth with is ab fab I love it, first of all cause it's so long (more than 10 minutes), the vocals, all of it. Are there other tracks like this you can suggest, for length, breaks, etc (this reminds me a bit of Salsoul)?
Other great tracks on the cd are Chic's Sao Paulo which ends the cd on a chillout vibe :) and this Janice McClain "Smack Dab In The Middle" track.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these "hidden" treasures

I think a large part of what made this song so endearing at the time was that it was sooo different from anything else ..... love how those horns governed it ..... not entirely sure why this one is coming to mind .... but Brainstorm's "LOVIN' IS REALLY MY GAME " has a similar spirit to it I think ..... partly because the way the instrumental & vocal parts are so widely divided .. "LIRMG" is sped up a might though ....

As for " You + Me" being a hidden treasure ... I think before Marky's charts for 1976 are completed for the year , you'll see this classic highly visible .... perched high and pretty right up there on the very top ..... 8)

It was and still is fairly unique, in my book. One of the few disco records of that time to have a street tuffness to it.

Try Boiling Point's Let's Get Funktified for a record with similar characteristics, although they are like chalk and cheese (stupid I know, but you'll get my drift if you listen to both).

    Love this one!

One of my favourite Norman Whitfield productions.. He did some really great stuff in his post-Motown period. I can't mention this one without mentioning Taka Boom and her fierce vocals! 8) If you like this one you'll probably like some of the other stuff on their late '70s albums "Method To The Madness" (1977) and "Smokin'" (1979). I don't know if you've heard them already, but you might like some stuff by Stargard namely "Which Way Is Up" and "What You Waitin' For". Norman had a hand in both of those; they're not quite as epic as "You+Me..," but it's all good stuff to me.. I think one of their later tracks is on the Disco Connection CD that you have..

I agree with the other posters' assessments that this track was unique in sound. It certainly was unique for Norman Whitfield, at least in the BPMs department. The songs he did after this one had a similar synthesized bass line, but they were slower in tempo, like Theme From Which Way Is Up by Stargard, and there were a few other artists he produced like Nitro with similar sounds.

Yes guys this is what I am here for, to discover new tracks so keep the suggestions coming ;)
Also, what a coincidence! Today the tracks I had in mind were this one and "Lovin' Is Really My Game" which I was trying to think where i know it from because I only know most of the disco tracks from all the compilations I have (the ones I love lead to artists' album buying) and I think it's on the 54 movie OST (which here in Europe was a doulbe cd only, not in separate cd editions like in the US) which I think is just great because it has lots of non-mainstream hits that you find on every compilations.
And I'll keep on looking for great Disco compilations with non-super-hits (suggestions welcome again).
    xx

I've also got a 1980 version of You+Me produced by Norman Whitfield with "Masterpiece". Anyone got more info on that. I remember playing it a lot

That'd be the (edit) of "Wear It Out" which was not one of their Whitfield tracks...produced by members of EWF no? From their "Changing Of The gard" LP. Still a fierce track!!!

I would suggest another Norman Whitfield produced track for Rose Royce titled R.R. Express (1981/ 11:58 timing); earlier done as Nytro Express by Nytro (also produced by Norman Whitfield). This has some of the You + Me = Love grandeur and lotsa train sounds and thunderous bass!!!

"Everybody get on board...it's time to ride the boogie express!!!" :D :D :D :D
