Please also give a time frame. During parts of his career many artists tried to imitate him. One such artist was Little Royal who recorded primarily in that vein in the late 60's. If its a funk number, it could probably be almost anybody.
James also recorded with JBs, Bobby Byrd, Bootsy Collins, ect.
Also, try to give exact name of song so one could cross-reference it or lyrics if someone has heard it.
    Sorry nothing yet.

Yes, you were correct. The track is "You and Me" from 1988's I'm real by James Brown. It was procuced by Full Force and yielded the hit "Static".
I must say this is without a doubt, his best album since over the last 30 years. It seems that ever since 1975, he kept redoing his hits and has let too many remote producers like hiphoppers and Dan Hartman have vital say in his work. Vocals are just alright but the instrumentals are weak.
The album is on Scotti Brothers and is still in print on CD. It could probably be bought for under $10.
