Great list, as always, Funky Dude!!!

One problem: "Get Ready" by the Temptations was released in 1966.

Their 1971 hits were:
Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)
one of their greatest, IMHO

It's Summer
Superstar (Remember How you Got Where You Are)

One question:
With all the awful music your brothers play, how could your Mom HATE "Popcorn"???!!!

There's nothing we can do to escape - we're all ADDICTED!!!! :lol: :lol:

I was only 10/11 at the time, and so there are a few from your 1971 list that I don't know :sad: But over the past few weeks I have been going back into the early Seventies (due to the Blaxploitation music debates we had on the Board...), and I think 1971 was a fantastic year!

I see Dennis Coffey and Scorpio cropping up a lot in people's lists, and I confess I haven't come across it yet... I love his 1977 stuff - I will have to check that one out... Sounds good! Is it an instrumental??

I would like to add one LP track to your list if I may ... one I love very much from that year...

THE STYLISTICS - People Make The World Go Round

It's got some great lyrics in it, and they still are relevant today...

I'll tell you the story. When my mother was in high school back in the early 1970's she and the other students had to learn dancing. So she went in and they had to dance to "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. Maybe she thought it was alright the first few times, but the bloody teacher belted the living **** out of that song, everytime when my mother had to do dancing they played nothing but "Popcorn" and it was driving her insane. And in 1972 "Popcorn" was a huge hit in Australia which they belted the **** out of it on pop radio, and when mum went to formals they played "Popcorn" when the dancing commenced :lol: :lol: :lol: .

Mum was so damn sick of "Popcorn" that she really HATED it. I guess she heard that song more times than "YMCA" by Village People.

That's why my mother hates "Popcorn".
