I know that Eruption and Boney M were produced by the same guy, Fab Farian.

Penny McLean was produced by the same guy who produced Silver Convention.

All of these groups have roots in Germany and probably had the same studio musicians playing.

Saragossa Band kept having sales chart hits up until the mid 80's, with "Stars on 45" -style medleys of party faves like "Agadoo". The producer is Anthony Monn, who also worked with Amanda Lear. In fact, there were several groups of studio musicans getting their arms sore from too much fiddling in Germany, both in Berlin and in Munich. Note that many of the acts recording for Hansa and Ariola labels and who thus were thought to be from Germany were actually from the BeNeLux countries, like A la Carte of "Doctor Doctor" fame. Now there's a quilty pleasure of an euro tune or what.

OK ..... I agree ..take ABBA off the list ..... maybe they just listened to this music and were a tad influenced ......... or vice versa ....

Funny JussiK, almost included Amander Lear as sometimes there's this similar sound with her too .....but she's always distinctively herself too .....

Gilla is also a Farian production. She had a big hit with Bobby Farell (Boney M) in Europiaaaaaa!

Here's something that tipped me off :

Penny McLean sings a song about King Tut .."TUT-ENCH-AMUN" ..in which she describes him as a leader full of history as well as a leader full of mystery ...
and then Dschinghis Khan does one of their similar historical story songs ; a number called "MOSCOW " in which it is described as a city full of "history" as well as a city full of ( yep) ... "mystery" .... I guess noone's supposed to notice ........?

    shameless !!!! :P
