I thought one of you disco queens would know this.
Marky, Nicky, Jeff, Keefe?
Where has Keefe been hiding lately?
It is a female vocalist.
"Cast again as femme fatale, you left without a curtain call."
"He was all you ever wanted. A sense of style, a taste for drama."

"Disco Queen"??? How dare you. I am a serious scholar of ancient antiquties. I find you people sad.
SOMEBODY PLEASE---JUST SLAP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I needed that.
Keefe is attending a class for his job this week. Jeff is editing his newspaper. So that leaves Nicky and moi.
Unless it's Loleatta Holloway's "The Greatest Performance of My Life", which I'm sure it isn't, I don't have a clue.
Paging Nicky!!!!! Or Graham--oh wait, I guess we determined earlier this week that he's not really a queen--just a bitch, right?
SOMEBODY--JUST SLAP ME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
OUCH!!!! HEY--- NOT THAT HARD, YOU BITCH!!!!
My "consul" will be serving you papers for that!!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Oh wait!!! Could this be an updated, reworked version of "Abraham, Martin & John"On 2002-07-24 10:31, nrgbeat wrote:

Sorry, kiddo. Even these two lines of lyric contain too much drama for me. I'm not THAT BIG a queen. On 2002-07-24 10:31, nrgbeat wrote:

Love Has No Time or Place
Nicky
Yeah Nicky...this sounds like Eartha Kitt or Shirley Bassey or some other real "oldtime" Drama Queen!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
No, it's not Shirley Bassey or Eartha Kitt.
This person I don't normally associate with disco/dance music.
Oh gawd, NOT Carly Simon again!!!!!

"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Nancy Sinatra?
Find them and destroy them!
No, this is a black singer.
Marky - you crack me up.
Not that I am a drama queen (I have worked with quite a few, though, does that count?), but could this be something by Marlena Shaw?

Hey thanks Maarten. I guess I'm an equal opportunity crack-up-er and piss-off-er.
Glad I'm on your crack-up side.

Here's the final clue.
What was the name of Judy Garland's character in "The Wizard of Oz"?
AArgh! I know the first line is "Who rewrote the age old story?"
Sixty minutes is nothing special (but it\'s all the world to me)
Got it! "Just another broken heart" by??
Sorry, I've been busy at the office for the past couple of days and haven't checked the site.
I can name that tune in one note/clue...
"Just Another Broken Heart" by Dorothy Moore

Yes, the answer is Dorothy Moore "Just Another Broken Heart"
Marky or Nicky do you know this song?
I'm clueless. Mark?On 2002-07-25 15:58, nrgbeat wrote:

Never heard of it.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Wow, if even two of our most knowledgeable members don't know this one it MUST be rare. I always suspected it was, since I've never seen it included on any Dorothy Moore LP, and I rarely see the 12-inch for sale anywhere.
It's a big, bombastic diva-type song that tells about a failed love affair using theater terms: "leading man," "he left without a curtain call," etc.
I don't remember the label, and without the record handy I'd have to guess that the song was from 1983 or '84.
