Everybody at Motown at one point or another recorded disco tunes. The Temps started with the Song For You record.

Incidentally, Happy People was created using portions of The Commodore's track 'Superman' from their Machine Gun LP. That's why Lionel Richie gets co-writer credit.

    The Temptations "Happy People"

Other Temptations I truly enjoy are "Glass House" and "Shakey Ground" and my all time favorite is "In A Lifetime." The later is Disco all the way. "In A Lifetime" contains that Philly Sound when they left Motown and headed for Atlantic Records. Ron Tyson of the Philly Sound produced it. However, the song is contained in The Temptations boxed set Emperors of Soul.

That Philly LP they did in '78, called 'Hear To Tempt You', is all great. My favorite cut from that LP is 'Think For Yourself'.

    That's why we love Marky's charts !!! :D :D :D

Two of those four songs that charted by them in 1975 :

    and:

    95) HAPPY PEOPLE - The Temptations (w/ The Commodores (unbilled) as backing band)

    45: A) vocal; B) inst.

    9 weeks on the chart (12/7/74 - 2/8/75)/ 2 weeks in the Top 10/ Peak: #9

That's two of their four charting disco songs of 1975 . They had two more somewhere within Marky's list of 462 !!! disco songs of 1975 . I'll let someone else who's curious enough find those !!!
