Masdefi, I have found your mystery song, and also one of your most wanted tracks. But… both are on CD and I know you are a purist and want vinyl. Regardless, here goes:

The mystery song is indeed by Azymuth, and is called “Dear limmertz”. The album name is “Outubro” which is Brazilian Portuguese for October. The album is from 1980 and was internationally distributed via Fantasy Records. Azymuth was (is?) a Brazilian trio of jazz funkers. Six (all?) of their albums have just been released here in Japan on CD on Victor Entertainment. Their most well known track is “Jazz carnival” which has been included in many compilation CD’s.

The other song I found is Johnson Products “Johnson Jumpin’”. It is included as track 1 on a compilation CD called “Disco Juice”. This is a UK release by Counterpoint Records (CRCD007). The track is 6 minutes and 20 seconds. Other tracks on this compilation are by Licky, Chain Reaction, Clyde Alexander, Queen Yahna, L.J. Waiters, Foster Jackson, Scott Davis, Jessie Gould, Paper Doll and three by Cloud One. All these tracks were released on the P&P record label, which stood for Patrick Adams and Peter Brown. In the mean time there is now also a Disco Juice 2 CD compilation.

I also found the Roberta Flack album “Roberta Flack featuring Donny Hathaway” from 1979 on CD. This contains the 9 minute 48 seconds version of “Back together again”, another song you identified recently. Interestingly, the background arrangements are by none other then Gwen Guthrie and Luther Vandross, and they sing as well. The song is written by James Mtume and Reggie Lucas. What a great song!

Masdefi, if you do want these songs anyway, I will get them to you. I will contact you via email.

Hi Maarten! You're GREAT! I had the information about Azymuth from saborioca, but I realize I checked out just a part of Azymuth production. Thanks to you too, saborioca, you were right!
Could you please upload just that track into my locker?

As far as JJ, I have found the original 12" from "Sound of New York" label. You cannot imagine how many researches I have been doing in order to find this record, but believe me, it has been very hard!!!

I payed for JJ a very high price (three-digits-price in Euros..... aaaahhhhhh....) but the most important thing is that NOW IT IS MINE!!!!

Again, thank you for your help.

    Ciao
    Masdefi

Disco Juice 2 also has the rap version of “Johnson Jumpin’” - interesting stuff.
    All original P&P (& related) releases cost a fortune...*sigh*
