Never heard of Cheyne (have heard of Cheney  ) so this is a no-brainer. I'll take Shannon!
In the 80's they were both touted as dance floor rivals for Madonna. Shannon had success with the popular songs "Let The Music Play", "Give Me Tonight", "My Heart's Divided", & "Do You Wanna Get Away". Cheyne released the hit "Call Me Mr. Telephone" then fizzled. What happened to Cheyne?? Did you like the musical output from these ladies?

"Call me mr telephone" was a minor filler tune for a while , the Dub side was more useful to me than the vocal, typical sound of the mid eighties, a bit of free style with some techno synths "Shannon" style but not quite, the vocals with the light Rapping and silly lines turned me off, lines like "I ain't Kurtis Blow or Grand Master Flash I'm the black cat on the swing" "Calling Mr Telephone" I said, 'Rock this beat to the funky beat" ... :o
Shannon wins hands down...

Honestly I highly dislike Shannon and probably heard to the other but can't remember her.
I'm not a big fan of freestyle. If paved the way for Black music to sound like pop and certain tracks to be over-emphasized or promoted.
Thanks Mix. If nothing else Cheyne looks kinda cute![]()
But man, that cover is 20 years old already :o  :lol:Originally Written by paul
