My favorite by Diana was her comeback hit "Gone" from 1995. It's a pop/soul ballad that is very melodic and moody. It took me 5 years to realize who was singing that song which is ironic because my first 2 memories ever was Reagon being elected and her hit "Upside Down". Her voice sounded so much different but almost out of context.

I don't know if any of you have ever seen Ross in concert but I have. Regardless of all the negative publicity she has occasionally generated (I don't know what woman would NOT object to an airline employee putting their hands inside a passenger's thighs and under their breasts) she is a VERY natural and engaging live performer. I'm still having trouble figuring out what made her think anyone would pay exhorbitant prices for the so-called "reunion" Supremes concert because she has always performed Supremes songs in concert anyway. But at the show I attended in Oakland California, while performing her then current hit "Muscles" Ross invited males in the audience to climb on stage, take off their shirts and flex their muscles. To her surprise, a black man who appeared to be a competition body builder not only ripped off his shirt (I guess just unbuttoning it wasn't dramatic enough) but he was already oiled up. Then he politely removed the microphone from her hand and began singing in a strong, gospel-ly voice twice the volume of hers. It was an amusing and entertaining evening, and now I don't care what negative things are written about her. The lady is a stellar performer, kinda similar to Patti LaBelle. Totally unpretentious, and she holds back nothing.

I agree ol'skinflint. The lady is totally professional & unique & the ultimate performer. I saw her in concert in the late 80s & was blown away (& I'm not generally a fan of live performances). I'm also biased because she's an Aries like me & although we are prone to the odd tantrum we are genuine & loyal people who just refuse to take crap from anyone. We will give you the shirt off our back, if we don't like the shirt!:-? ;)
