What's Your Favourite Festive Season Movie?

Well folks, it's almost That time of the year tralalalala lalalala!

It's the period where most of us stay home and watch the screen under a cosy blanket. During these festive days I'm usually working (Giant wheel at the Christmas Market) and I have to stick to my DVD's instead of watching the tele.

We usually watch different things than during the rest of the year. And we have our classics:

    1."Wizard Of Oz"
    I'm melting, I'm melting!

    2."Oliver"
    Gotta pick-a-pocket or two!

    3."Mary Poppins"
    Superfunkycalifragisexy!

    4."Godfather Trilogy"
This is a must or I'll make my wife an offer she can't refuse!

    5."Snow White"
    Hi-Ho-Hi-Five!

Do u have favourites? (Jussik, "Cannibal Women Slaughterhouse" would be a very weird pick)

I have my 'Christmas' movies that I usually watch this time of year...

    In no particular order:

A Christmas Carol (1951) The best version ever.

A Christmas Carol (1938) The best US version.

Goodfellas (1990) 'Belles of St. Mary' as background music when Stacks is whacked around Christmas time after the Lufthansa heist.

LA Confidential (1997) Bud White tearing down Christmas lights of wife-beater, 'Bloody Christmas' jailhouse riot.

Godfather-1 (1972) Michael finds out Don Corleone is shot while Christmas shopping with Kay in Rockefeller Center. (Does the Belgian DVD have a Flemish speaking Don Corleone?!?)

Coca-Cola Kid (1985) A very bizarre Australian film starring Eric Roberts and a gorgeous young Greta Scacchi. Set at Christmas time with Santa Clauses driving Coke trucks.

It's a Wonderful Life (1946) This isn't on my list. It's not a bad film but I think it's a bit over-rated, and has been shown to death over the years on TV. Was this ever released in Europe?

The Wizard of Oz (1939) - is shown every year by Turner Classic Movies on the 4th of July for some strange reason. When I was a kid in the 1960s it was shown in January or February. I don't consider it a Christmas movie. A newly restored and remastered DVD was just released here, the transfer is amazing. It's the only Judy Garland movie that straight people are allowed to watch without penalty. (I'm only joking, o.k.)

MY all-time holiday favorite is "Best Little Whore House in Texas" with the tear-jerker "Hard Candy Christmas" tune.

    Other holiday faves are:
    - Throw momma from the train
    - Planes, trains and automobiles
    - All classic disney animation movies
    - Miracle on 42nd street (can't remember exact title)
    - It's a wonderful life

The Christmas episode of "The Royle Family". In case of too much goodwill, Tim Burton's "A Nightmare Before Christmas", and if that doesn't do the trick, then for stronger measures "Don't Open Till Christmas", the first segment of the original "Tales From The Crypt" or "Silent Night Deadly Night". Watching a Homicidal santa at work with an axe puts things back into perspective.

We saw that one a few days ago and can u believe that only this time (I've seen it a dozen times) I discovered that Stacks=Samuel Jackson  Never recognised him before.

Which made me plug in "Pulp Fiction" again yesterday evening. Now that's one of my all-time favourites and Uma Thurmann is super in it. So is Mr. Jackson. The scene in the drugdealer apartment is legendary.

"What? Which country is What? Do they speak English in What?"

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee".

    BANG!

No, the only movies that are dubbed in Flanders are Cartoons and Kid Stuff. We always have subtitles in Flemish. Some don't like that because they distract the viewers from the screen.

I always watch those pics in original version. I perfectly understand English and French so I usually don't need them except when they're speaking dialects or slang of course.
