    Gloria Gaynor "Anybody Wanna Party"

WOW. This has all the class and groove SOOO lacking for me in IWS. I never knew. The 12" is awesome...such a subtle song. Never would've thought Gloria could've done that.

When IWS is championed as being the greatest disco song of all time, I'm quick to point out that it wasn't even the best song on that album.

Why oh why has NOBODY tried to remake this? A snappy hook, a common theme, some wicked guitar, and a smokin' groove?

Dino and Freddie could be making some money off this - someone, somewhere in A&R show this to someone along the lines of The Rapture, Powerman 5000 or DFA1979 - the results could be astonishing

«Anybody wanna party?» is without a doubt the best song from the album and I've been thinking that since 1978.

    The 12"s were as following:

    US:
    Substitute 8:00/ I will survive Polydor PD D 504
Anybody wanna party? 7:41/ Please be there Polydor PD D 507
    I will survive 8:02/ Yo Viviré 7:57 Polydor PD D 512

    UK:
I will survive / Anybody wanna party (Polydor 12" [UK] POSPX 31, 1978)

Apparently Polydor was completely clueless and didn't know what to promote from the album («Going Out of My Head» and «I Said Yes» would have been another good choices).

    7":
    - Anybody wanna party 3:28/Please be there 4:30 (Polydor 2095 059/PD 14558, 1978)
The 7" version is an edit of the 12" remixed version available on cd on «I Will Survive, the anthology», Polygram 1998.

I can't even remember that song, I must check it out again.
Btw, can I ask, is there someone who thinks that I Am What I Am mostly has a fab unbeaten intro, but the rest of the song and music somehow can't live up to the intro? Or maybe it's too long and the extended bits aren't good enough this time?

I've just listened to this song and I didn't like it at all. What's supposed to be so special about it?

Anybody Wanna Party is a great song. I think I Will Survive just suffers from over-exposure. I personally think it's a better song than AWP. AWP is nice and funky, but the melody is not catchy or memorable.

a better dance or party groove. I don't own the LP so I don't know if the 12" has a longer intro.

I love "anybody wanna party". I see what youre saying disco funk, i will survive is a classic but just so overplayed, i played both when i did a disco party a couple of years back, people were drunk enough by the time awp came on and danced but i could tell no one knew it. i wonder how that song performed here in Australia?

Well I'm really warming up to this one, I did love the intro with the background vocals almost echoing, and now I like pretty much all of it lol
