    Marianne Rosenberg

    *****

Never heard of her music nor knew of her until tonight ....... but I see she's put out a boatload of music.

I'm listening to a Japanese compilation LP (1976-77 ?) DISCO SOUND SPECIAL VOL. 6 ...no date given .... but it includes
    "THAT"S THE TROUBLE "---Grace Jones
"TELL ME HOW YOU LIKE IT" John Davis & the Monster Orchestra
"CARIBBEAN DREAM" --- Dr. Dragon & The Oriental Express

    and

    A V.I.P. ( ICH BINN WIE DU ) --- Marianne Rosenberg

Excellent cut ...and now I suspect I know from where "LOVE PAINS " was inspired .....

"Ich bin wie du" is a great track. A few years ago it was greatly covered by Blue Adonis in "Disco cop".

Marianne is still touring and performing and is THE gay icon in Germany where "Ich bin wie du" is considered as THE gay anthem.

If you go to a party in Belgium, you can be sure that tune will be played.

    Then:

    Now:

    Bitte schön! Danke sehr!

Remicks, she did some other Disco BITD but it didn't have the impact of her classic. Later she became a pop/schlager artist.

You can read all about her on her site where you can also download some recent songs:

And yes, she still looks damn good :D

I use to play the b side of A V.I.P. which was called How can I go now.Found it in a bargin bin in the early 80's and it turned out to be a big hit for me.Would always have someone come up for the name everytime I played it and as it was released in 77 it was impossible to get hold of.
A nice feeling for a dj

Marianne Rosenberg had two other very big hits here in Germany: " Marlen " and " Er gehört zu mir ".
Listen to these and tell it is not disco.
Problem was that she was singing in German and therefore was considered "Schlager" and she was too early (around 1974) when Disco in Germany hasn`t surfaced yet.
However, the production of her songs could easily stand up to anything that came from Munich in those days.
