I Need You (Ron Hardy 12" Mix) / Sylvester

Despite only having a lousy vinyl rip, I have redsicovered this song. The piano interlude with the girls singing is very cool...always been a fan of the Lp version, but where can I find the full 12" on CD?

    Front-are you talking about the
mix with the break in the beginning and end? I found it
on a Megatone white vinyl 12"-
if this is the one,I think there
might be a Sylvester Lp on CD
with this mix....Let me investigate this one

    Front-the album I was thinking
of was "Immortal" which Amazon lists on Cd,but "I need you"isn't listed in the tracks
    for some reason-someone
mentions it in their review though so maybe it's a typo.
    good luck!

I think that was a newer remix of the song. I am reffering to the original 1980 Ron Hardy mix. The LP cut is the one that seems to appear on most comps (i.e Disco Mastercuts, Kenny Dope presents Disco Heat). Shame too.

Weren't the 2 Ron Hardy remixes of "I Need You" created around the same time as the Immortal album? If not, when were they created, and did they remain unreleased until the release of Immortal and the white vinyl 12"?

Does a 1980 12" mix of "I Need You" exist that is different than the album version?

There is a really nice extended Dimitri remix of this (better than the white vinyl one IMO) which was on a US Boot B+W Fantasy 12". It was also on Jap CD comp called Remixed Boogies than has other remixes of old tracks, most of which are pretty awful.

I assumed the Ron Hardy mix was from 80. The rip I have is really poor vinyl and doesn't sound particularly remixed, just extended with a bit more break. perhaps I am wrong on this one though. Can anyone clear this mess up?

I've just purchased a one sided 2005 released 12" which has a Tom Moulton mix 12.30. Now I don't know if this is a recent TM mix, or something that never saw the light of day at the time. Anyway it's really nice with vocal bits that do not appear on the other versions, presumably from an alternative take. It also has a nice lengthy intstrumental mid section. Only criticism is that I would probably have cut it down to about 10mins. and that's coming from somebody who adores this song.
Would love to hear the Dimitry edit as I think I have all the others. Now are the RH mixes mentioned definately the ones on the white twelve or not?

    Cheers

The white vinyl 12" is the same as the version on the Imortal LP and is credited as Underground Remix by Howard Merrit. I've heard rumours this mix is Walter Gibbons amongst others, but personally I doubt that is the case.

    Hello
Hope you don't mind me reviving this old thread. Have recently been playing the white vinyl 12" of this and can't seem to find out for sure who did the 8:14 Another Unreleased Mix. Presumably the other side is the Howard Merrit mix from the Immortal LP.
I've seen both Ron Hardy and Walter Gibbons mentioned, for some reason I thought it was Ron's.
    Anyone know for sure?
    many thanks
