Sammy--
You are so right about Steely Dan's "Aja" album. If I had to choose between "Aja" and "Can't Buy A Thrill" as what my favorite SD album would be, it would be impossible, but "Aja" is just a remarkable album. At times it seems hard to believe that this album came out in '77, especially after hearing the title track. Even though SD had shown their fusion talents throughout their albums in the 70's, "Aja" was the standout. Other cuts from that album which are also good are "Black Cow" and "Josie".
I like Carole King's "Jazzman" as well; I have that on a "Sounds of the Seventies" CD I have. My mother bought the "Tapestry" album when it was released in 1971, and I have it on cassette. Many people might not know this, but Carole's first hit song was "It Might As Well Rain Until September" in 1962. At the time, she was well known as a writer instead of a singer, having written songs for The Drifters ("When My Little Girl Is Smiling"), The Shirelles ("Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?"), Little Eva ("The Loco-Motion"). I also liked her rendition of the Shirelles' "One Fine Day" in 1980.
Steve Miller's music you could dance to at times; it had a good beat to it, especially "Take The Money And Run" and "Rock 'n Me", which I think all came off of the "Fly Like An Eagle" album.
Boz Scaggs' "Lowdown" was a crossover hit for him, but I also love "Lido Shuffle" (1977) and his 1980 songs "Look What You've Done To Me" and "Miss Sun".
