    Barry or Barry

Inspired by Nicky, this battle pits the 2 fathers of disco. Mr Gibb most notably known for his work on the SNF soundtrack (along with his brothers of course) laid the foundation for that mainstream sound a casual listener associates with disco.
Mr White (The Maestro) my choice for father of disco, seems to dislike titles such as this. Nonetheless his early work with The Love Unlimited Orchestra was pioneering. Putting classical instruments in a format that was not only genre setting but was popular as well has to be acknowledge. Add to that, that voice that served as foreplay on the dance floor makes him in my view the undisputed father of disco 8)

Paul or Paul, although Barry Gibb and his dear family are massive in music history, I always considered them Popgiants.

Now, Mr. White is the legend for me. His orchestrations, his sensuous voice, his timeless songs are the ultimate in smooth Disco. If you don't get in the mood for luuuuuuv when the master's vibes are floating through the air, you are not human IMHO. Sex on vinyl, like honey, erotic music at its best.

I've never really considered Barry White strictly a disco artist, even though his music probably got a lot of play in the discos back in the day. His sound was more 'proto-disco', with more emphasis on soul and funk. In other words, his songs didn't have that pounding four on the floor beat, at least not until the end of the 70's.

Barry Gibb, on the other hand, did some great disco with his brothers. You Should Be Dancing is probably their best disco song. And of course the SNF soundtrack is a classic. Also, the Brothers Gibb dabbled in some funky grooves, like Boogie Child and Love You Inside Out.

If we're rating these artists purely based on their R&B oriented output, I'd put Barry White ahead. But if this is about who put out the best four on the floor disco dancing beats, Barry Gibb comes out ahead.
