The sound quality is rather poor, but see if you can ID this.
It sounds like it might be Freddie Mercury.

Thank you my disco children. :D
out of curiosity, under what circumstances are people here hearing bits and pieces of songs and being unable to get more info? If you're hearing them on the radio, I assume you'd call the station's program director to get the artist and title. If you're hearing them in a club, then of course, the DJ should be able to fill you in (and I've done that). If you're hearing them on TV, I'd probably try to tape it and email the station to get the info. In a music store, I just go up and ask the employees what's playing (they seem to enjoy the fact that the music they're playing got a response). So exactly where are people hearing this music they can't identify? Thanks.
I'm taking the liberty of speaking for the hardcore disco fans.
Most of the stuff that people can't identify here is from the 70s and 80s, and is off old mix tapes or from someone's memories.
People here HAVE asked the djs who made the original tapes, and in some cases, even THEY don't remember the song. In some cases the original dj is no longer living, or can't be located.
That's why this forum exists.....for the disco/club community to share knowledge and help each other out.
For the hardcore fans, this music was never (or almost never) played on the radio, or in record stores (except for specialty 12" shops). And just try to get to the dj in a club like the Saint, where there were thousands of dancers at a time (and maybe a "guard" at the dj boot).....and don't forget the djs who would NOT, under ANY circumstances, "name that tune" due to ego, etc.
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
wow, must be frustrating. It DOES, however, remind me of the 1960s when my sister and I used to go to local record shops. Every time and I mean EVERY TIME we went, there would be someone standing at the counter saying, "I want this record but don't know the name of it" and their personal rendition of it would follow. I was always too embarrassed to do that.
I guess the situation was different depending on where you were. I was a DJ myself and was never reluctant to talk to another DJ about a particular song, but I never did it very often. And no club I partied in ever had a guard for the DJ but they weren't needed because most DJs situated themselves far enough from the crowds so the dance floor's vibrations wouldn't cause their turntables to shake. And MOST of the thousands of dancers in a particular club weren't that interested in the title of a particular song...they just liked the sound of it and knew they would hear the popular songs over and over anyway.
