Johan,
Try some Dalida tracks as they are very good.
I'm sure Jussi will come to your rescue as this is his specialty.
For a special occasion "1001 nights" I need to play Arabian influenced dancemusic. I don't have much time to go trough my records though so I would appreciate if you folks could give me a hand. I already have:
- Vince Montana: A Dance Fantasy
- Alec R. Costandinos: Hunchback Of The Notre-Dame
- La Bionda: Sandstorm
- Ritchie Family: Arabian Nights
- Abdul Hassan Orchestra: Arabian Affair
- Tahoser: Mille Et Un Nuits
- DJ Sultan: Der Bauch
But I need More...More...More plz
Johan,
Try some Dalida tracks as they are very good.
I'm sure Jussi will come to your rescue as this is his specialty.
And show "A 1001 Erotic Nights" 8)

Just drop into your local Arabian Disco 'R' Us store. I'm sure they're dotted all over Belgium.
I'd have thought French Disco sites would have a few and there are the odd few compilations nowadays, however these contain more up to date material. Even Amazon carries these.
A few more to consider:
Kool & The Gang - Open Sesame would be an obvious choice
Rock the Casbah - Clash (partly tongue in cheek)
Midnight At The Oasis - Maria Muldaur (tongue in cheek)
Arabian Nights - The Quick on the 'B' side of Sharks Are Cool, Jets Are Hot....just remember it being there, don't think I ever played it, so can't say how 'Arabic' it is.
Arabesque (wonder if these Euro luvvies have anything Arabic?)
I'd even go so far as to say
Jackie McClean - Dr. Jackyl & Mr. Funk has some Arabic influences goin' on and
Oliver Sain - Bus Stop uses some Arabic sounding scales
Why, thank you Bernie, I'll try my best! :-)
- Once you have spinned the Maria Muldaurs and the bag of jazzy tracks is empty go for "1001 Nights of Love" by Asha Puthli, a grandiose 1979 Arabian Nights fantasy with an Moroccoan/Indian feel, extremely exotic. She summons you to her throne while sitars and all sorts of drumns throb in the background. There's a chanting chorus and a Love to love you baby beat, so it's all good stuff. Play the whole 6 min+ track. Then bring on vinyls like "N´Sil Fik" by Fadela, a stunning rai dance marathon from the early 80's that was big in hip clubs worldwide. Both sides of the rather easy to find Les Allumettes 7-incher ( Mustafa and Harem) are good for more cheesy bellydances, as is the Abdul Hassan Orchestra thing, harder to come across that one, though. Also get the Orient Express album for several funky bits and the funny "Abdullah's Wedding" tune. "Snake dance" by RJ's latest Arrival is another choice title.
don't know how far you wanna go...
but what about Biddu Orchestra...more of an indian-oriental style...
songs like Eastern Journey on the Nirvana LP for example...
shouldn't be hard to find...
The Jones Girls - Nights Over Egypt?
