    The Thrill Is Gone

What songs that you used to like no longer have the same magic?

"Love Machine" by The Miracles is one song that for me has lost any magic that it may have held.

Some songs I've heard so many times they've gotten tiring. Two that I can think of are "Souvenirs" and "Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You".

Good topic nrg. I agree about Love Machine. I use to really love that song now I skip right pass it on some of my cds.
Another is the anthem, Aint No Stopping Us Now. Perhaps because I heard and played it so much is why. I've tried to include it in my own comps but I find I just don't want to hear it.

When the France Joli 12" "Does He Dance" came out, I must've played it about a million times. Now when I play that album (which I still love) I don'r even want to hear that song. Also "Coming Out Of Hiding" by Pamela Stanley & "Thank God For Music" by Patrick Cowley.

Songs that got played out on the radio when Disco came back, like Anita Ward's Ring My Bell or Chic's Le Freak. I also got tired of Donna Summer's MacArthur Park.

Back in the 80's when I was roller skating at least three times a week @ Twin City Roller Rink, the Dj's for some reason LOVED "Love is the Message" by MFSB - it got played at least 3 times a night. I couldn't listen to that song for all of the 90's without wanting to throw up. I feel the same way now about "Tonight's the Night" by Betty Wright, Good Times by Chic, and Disco Inferno by the Trammps (they've got so many OTHER great songs, lol)

Maybe these are phases .... but right now there are those songs that I wouldn't pull to put on a CD . Mainly it's from overexposure ...and to that end there are certain records I intentionally restrict my listening of , because I know if I overdue it they'll looose that sheen . Songs like Space "SAVE YOUR LOVE FOR ME " .

So I've overheard "DISCO HEAT " and "LE FREAK "

Rercently I tried to sit through "COME ON DANCE DANCE " by Saturday Night Band and couldn't.
And I've skipped over "IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW " by Linda Clifford everytime it surfaces . Just don't seem to want to hear that. In fact maybe nothing by Linda Clifford? )

Luckily I've been clued in on so many unfamiliar songs from this site that it
    's not an issue .... & I still value them all ......
