It is or was on a UK compilation by Knight Records, distributed by Castle Communications called 'The Soul Years- 1978'.
Cat no; KNCD22078. I think it has been deleted now.
It's on CD 1. Happy hunting!! :D
Does anyone know if the 12" version of Chanson's "Don't Hold Back" was ever released on CD? If so, which compilation is it on?

Nice classic
got the 12" on red vinyl and picture sleeve.
Is the 12" version the same as the LP? I seem to recall seeing the running time around the 4 1/2 minute mark. Great drum break. Too bad the rest of the LP is so so.

Hi
Yes the 12" runs at 4.23 mins. So I guess its the same as the album track.
If the 12" and LP version are the same mix/length, this CD has it:Originally Written by HighMaintenanceGirl

I've got the 'Soul Years 1978' CD and checked the running time - 4.27. I've got the red vinyl 12" too - a great classic.
Incidentally, Davicillo, would you know how many volumes of the Soul Years' double CDs there were? I have 15 of them, dating from 1970 to 1984 and would really like to extend the set if possible.
But I found a long version in Youtube... why?
YouTube - Chanson - Don't Hold Back (DiscoCat Edit) 1979
I've got the 7" same length and good sound so no need for the 12" then
Haven't seen it on CD.
AND...on the 'B' side of the Promo 12" they have a 3 minute version.
Can you believe that??
Why bother??
But as a club DJ you thought 3 min versions on 12" was a waste of vinyl :icon_biggrin:
