The Sex pistols never made no.1 nationally.
true davicillo only made mumber 2 but only because the government had a word in the b.b.c's earOriginally Written by Davicillo
i think the number one queens jubille week was rod stewart dont tell me that outsold the pistols, awesome record 8) but the pistols was number 1 n.m.e etc
Buckaroo, don't know if this is true but apparently it went out of stock that week so rod stewart held on to the no.1 spot.
All hearsay of course! I think it made no.1 in the Melody Maker charts as well!
These are the official no.1's for the UK in 1977;

The only 1 i'm not sure about in the US lot is Alan O'Day.
I saw John Lydon in a documentary, saying that it was "...kept off..." the #1 spot by the powers that be. You had a situation where, you would walk into a record shop which listed the charts, and there would be a blank space at #1 :roll: Also, stations refused to play it. Also, because of the way charts were compiled back then, a bit of dodgy business went on.Originally Written by Davicillo
The lack of stock, would've been down to people in the pressing plants at the time, refusing to manufacture "God Save The Queen" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
