    "BOYS KEEP SWINGING" 3-CD set

Boys keep Swinging - 3 CD Box at Amazon UK

Another one I found at Amoeba from Disky in the Netherlands. The timings are NOT on the outside packaging--but ARE on the inside. Don't they know this is important to us??? :-?

This has very HOMOEROTIC cover artwork of two guys with shaved heads and black mesh tops attitude-dancing--so beware if your'e squeamish about such things!!! :P

    CD #1:
    1) I'M A MAN - Macho (7:31)
    2) WALKING ON MUSIC - Peter Jacques Band (8:16)
    3) IN THE BUSH - Musique (8:05)
    4) YOU GET HIGH IN N.Y.C. - Revanche (8:28.)
    5) AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH/ REMEMBER ME - Boystown Gang (7:39)
    6) YOU MAKE ME FEEL (MIGHTY REAL) - Sylvester (6:15)
    7) YOUR LOVE - Lime (6:58.)
    8. LET'S ALL CHANT - Michael Zager Band (7:06)
    9) RING MY BELL - Anita Ward (8:08.)
    10) GET OFF - Foxy (5:43)

    CD #2:
    1) HIGH ENERGY - Evelyn Thomas (7:49)
    2) SO MANY MEN, SO LITTLE TIME - Miquel Brown (8:13)
    3) DANCE (DISCO HEAT) - Sylvester (8:40)
    4) FIRE NIGHT DANCE - Peter Jacques Band (8:40)
    5) BECAUSE THERE IS MUSIC IN THE AIR - Macho (10:21)
    6) REVANCHE - Revanche (8:40)
    7) CRUISIN' THE STREETS - Boystown Gang (10:10) (they include the long spoken "cruisin" segment and even the "You too ****" line :o ...then fade it before the reprise of the vocal final chorus!!!???? For time concerns??? :-?
    8. ALL AMERICAN BOY - Barbara Pennington (6:17)
    9) THE BOYS COME TO TOWN - Earlene ( says "Earleana"???) Bentley
    10) SAN SALVADOR - Azoto (6:50)

    CD #3:
    1) SOMEBODY ELSE'S GUY - Jocelyn Brown (6:27)
    2) EVERYBODY'S FREE (TO FEEL GOOD) - Rozalla (6:21)
    3) RESPECT - Adeva (6:31)
    4) SEARCHIN' (I GOTTA FIND A MAN) -Hazell Dean (8:02)
    5) CATCH ME - Marsha Raven (9:32)
    6) FOLLOW ME - Amanda Lear (10:46)
    7) THIS IS MY LIFE - Shirley Bassey (6:13)
    8. CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU - Boystown Gang (9:25)
    9) THIS WILL BE (AN EVERLASTING LOVE) - Natalie Cole (4:05--house-beat remix)
    10) I SPECIALIZE IN LOVE - Sharon Brown (7:15)

So...a lotta stuff that's available elsewhere...BUT the Peter Jacques Band, Macho, Revanche, Shirley Bassey, Azoto, Amanda Lear titles caught my eye. Didn't know the timings until I got the shrink-wrap off---but QUELLE SURPRISE!!! they're LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG VERSIONS!!!!! Yeah, for our side!!!! :D :D

Marky, the track by Miss Amanda Lear: Is it a special version or is it a special edit of the A-side from the album "Sweet Revenge"?

Are these too the original versions? If so, the people from Disky have improved their reputation.

Man, if only they added "Groove Me" by Fern Kinney. The 12" also. That would be nice. :-?

Yikes!!! I found it at a record store here in LA. Is it not listed anywhere online???? I suppose someone would have added a link if it was--well it's from:

    2005 Disky Communications Europe B.V.
    P.O. Box 249
    1620 AE Hoorn
    The Netherlands

    The number is CB 902719.

Don't know what else to tell ya...maybe it's too new for the online services???

Found mine in a record shop in the centre of Berlin (a chain but name escapes me) in the spring. They had a big pile of them for something like 6 Euro's. I brought it thinking that at that price it was great for what I fully expected to be just edits. Oh brother you should have seen my face when they turned out to be the full versions! Definately one of my buys of the year.

I picked mine up in Montreal in July. Great selection of tracks, BUT....

Word of caution for the purists...

Some of the tracks, primarily the Jacques Fred Petrus productions (Macho, Revanche, Peter Jacques Band) but a few others as well, were recorded from vinyl! You can hear the vinyl hiss and some very very slight surface noise.

If you're like me, it's just great to have these full-length tracks on CD so I'm willing to overlook this music faux pas. :-)
