    Emly Starr

A forgotton Belgian Discostarr. Emly Starr had a big hit in Japan with "No no sheriff" and was the entry for the Eurovision Songcontest in 1981 with "Samson". Does anyone remember this beautiful girl, one described by BBC's Terry Wogan as "The best legs ever!"?

There's an Emly Starr (or Star?) song called 'Dance Of Love' on Brazilian compilation called 'Ipanema Disco Dance' probably from 1977 or 1978. A man says in French: je t'aime and Emly Starr sings love me baby/ kiss me/ make me feel alright/ voulez vous/ cause I need you so... .

Emly Starr's "Samson" was my favourite entry in the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest. The song was easily the most "disco" in that contest; I was only 10 years old and hadn't formally realised I liked disco so much at that point.

It was ironic that this was my favourite entry, given that the UK won it that year (Bucks Fizz)

Difficult question Paul. She was more a Discoconcept than a real Disco-artist IMO. It was a mix between Disco and Pop. Let's say Amii Stewart. She was big in Japan though where she had a big hit with "No no Sheriff".

    Dear Friends!
I have a 12" called by EMLY STARR EXPLOSION called
    "Santiago Lover"(6.18) b/w same(3.28) released on EMI
    Germany 1978.
Kind of trashy disco-pop with latin flavour.
