Although we mainly got the most typical disco songs, there were some Aussie disco artists and Aussie rock artists making a contribution to disco music. Anyhow here's an Australian disco playlist:

    1 - Marcia Hines - Jumpin' Jack Flash 1975/You 1977/Music Is My Life 1978
2 - JPY - Love Is In The Air/The Day That My Heart Caught Fire/Standing In The Rain 1978
    3 - Peter Allen - I Go To Rio 1976
4 - Marc Hunter (from Dragon) - Island Nights 1979
    5 - Dark Tan - Island In The Sun/Disco Lady 1978
    6 - Studs - Funky Feet/Disco Death 1977
    7 - Good News - Australia 1979
    8 - Little River Band - Happy Anniversary 1977
    9 - Renee Geyer - Sweet Love 1975
10 - Bee Gees - (you's know all of the songs, "Jive Talkin'", "Night Fever" etc... they formed in Brisbane in Queensland Australia in 1958)

    Funky Dude--

I had never heard "Australia" by Good News until I discovered it on an import CD several years ago. What an awesome record! The arrangement sounds a lot like the best work of Jacques Morali; I just love the orchestration! And the vocals remind me of the Village People and/or the Gibson Brothers.

But some of those lame lyrics could use a little work though!

Just to set the record straight.

I'm from Australia, but Good News were not.

They were from somewhere in Europe......the actual country escapes me....possibly Dutch.

It was released on RCA Records In Australia on 12" & also in The Netherlands.

We all remarked on how Village People sounding it was @ the time.......

I'm almost sure that that Good News was from Belgium...I have to find my hysterical club promotion photos from when Attic released it in Canada and a friend of mine dressed up as a kangaroo !
