Well, what about Miss Karen Carpenter??????
The first name that comes to me is Sheila E. I remember her hit and my fave of hers back in the 80's "The Glamourous Life". Lenny Kravitz also has a female drummer in his band (I can't remember her name at the moment). But the only time you would see girl drummers are in girl bands such as The Go-Go's, Klymaxx and The Bangles. Does anyone know of any other girl drummers or guitarists???
*DELIGHTFUL*
Well, what about Miss Karen Carpenter??????
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Two female drummers that come to mind are the ones from Hole and the Donnas.
I think Sly Stone's sister, Cynthia, played drums with the Family Stone.
You can also add the all-girl band The Bangles to the list as well (the only names I know from that group are Suzanna Hoffs and Michael Steele).
I think the Wilson sisters from Heart (Ann and Nancy) also played guitar (or at least one of them did).

Well, not drummer nor guitarist, but bassist:
Janice Marie Johnson

Good trivia, Blax! About Nancy Wilson, she was Heart's lead guitar player and is also Cameron Crowe's wife (they co-written the fake band's songs in "Almost Famous").
I know -but not first-hand- of an English female drummer. Her name is Stephanie Nuttal and had a relationship with one of the band members of Joy Division (don't know which one, but it was not Ian Curtis). She came to Argentina invited by an Italian friend, Luca Prodan, who came here to clean himself from drugs and founded one of the best rock bands of the eighties in our country: Sumo. The band's first gig was in the midst of the Malvinas/Falklands war and Stephanie was the drummer of Sumo for some months, then panicked because of the war and returned to England. Sadly, there's no recorded evidence of her playing in the band.
I never knew what happened with her, maybe someone here knows...
Hey Delight. By coincidence I was just groovin' to Glamorous Life. I haven't heard it in a while and I love it and the video.
As for drummers, I think Patrice Rushen is also in this group.
Find them and destroy them!
Hmmm.....not exactly as drummer but as keyboardist. On 2002-07-16 00:38, paul wrote:

What was amazing about Karen Carpenter is that in the early days of the Carpenters, during concerts Karen played the drums and sang simultaneously throughout the entire show. She did both to perfection without ever missing a beat or singing off key. Has anybody heard any of her disco tracks?
I really like "My Body Keeps Changing My Mind" and "If I Had You".
My favorite female drummer comes from Holland, is a real dish and hits 'em fast, tight and furious. Her name is simply Evelyn (real name: Evelyn Carels), and her big break came when she was drummer with Candy Dulfer's band Funky Stuff.
I have a life concert on video from at least 10 years ago that shows a very young Candy D and her band play Rotterdam Ahoy and Eveline simply kicks ass... or should that be 'kicks drums'? Her style of drumming reminds me of Charlie Charles from Ian Dury & The Blockheads.
After leaving Candy Dulfer's band "Funky Stuff" she became drummer for another 'blue eyed soul' band from Holland: Lois Lane (fronted by sisters Monique and Suzanne Klemann).
Eveline also released a solo effort in 1994 as "Eveline & The Groove Movement", a mostly experimental Jazz Bop and funk CD. Check Eveline out!
