Could anyone please ID the 2 tracks Alan Dodd plays before the Thelma Houston performance on part 2 around 1:07 - 1:18?
The first one sounds like Sylvester and has lyrics goin "Higher, higher, take me to the music, higher"
The second one is a female vocal singing "hot love" and "macaroni & balony"
Any ideas??
Hi the Higher track is by the Chi-Lites, then that is followed by Irene Cara - Hot Lunch Jam which was the B side of Fame :D
Nice one Andy, much appreciated! 8)
Another track ID folks!
Could anyone please tell me what the track is playing at around 35/36 minutes in part 3. Female vocal with very funky bassline
It's "My Baby's Baby" by Liquid Gold...
Could anyone please ID a track for me in part 3 at around 50 mins?
Its right after Teri DeSario - Aint nothing gonna keep me from you and it has a full on female vocal with a hook saying ' and you, youre gonna love me'
The song is called "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" and is from the show "Dreamgirls". The original version was by Jennifer Holliday and was a slow ballad. I don't know who this version is by but I'm sure that somebody on the forum will be able to tell us. There have been various other disco/dance versions of the song, including those by Donna Giles and Hannah Jones, but these are too recent to have been featured on this 'Saint' recording.
It may be "And I am Telling you..." by Koffee. I think that version was released in 1983, so that may be in line with the Saint.
Yeah,I thought of Koffie as well, can't get in to listen though.
Just one thing I noticed about this tape. I was listening to part two just ther and Miquel Brown - So many men, so little time is on it at around 2:50.Originally Written by The Saint
I thought this track wasnt made until spring 83(Well according to an Ian Levine interview)? Is there any chance it was made in 80?
I think the dates they have listed on the site are incorrect.
So Many Men is definitely an '83 production; it's far too brittle & metallic to be from '80.(that's not a criticism, just an observation of the changing sound of dance music as it progressed through the 80s).
Unless the tape is possibly this one?
And there I was thinking I was listening to Alan Dodd![/img]
:o
$30? That's expensive, even in UK money. Did people really pay that much back in '83?
Maybe Im generalising but the Saints crowd was said to be quite affluent so $20 wouldnt have been that bad.Originally Written by buckaroo
Judging by the amount of electricity required to run the place though I can imagine it was necessary to charge that price every now and again
Think it must be the 83 performance as there is a live performance from Thelma Houston in there, and a lot of tracks from 1983, so must be Robbie????
Well it was the Thelma performance that made me think it must be the party from that flyer. She also makes reference over the mike asking the crowd how their summer was so its deffo the first party back after the summer so I can only assume its the 83-84 season.Originally Written by Andy Farley
As for the tracks from 83, Miquel Brown was the only one I recognised off hand, but looking back stuff like Liquid Gold, Teri DeSario, Jean Carn, Lamont Dozier - take off your make up wouldve all been big Robbie Leslie records so it makes sense.
Does Robbie post on these boards? Maybe he could come on and let us know?

Andy Warhol in his published diaries said he thought 'The Saint was better than Studio 54'! Now there's recommendation.
Can someone tell me what the track is between John Davis & Grace Jones on part 2 where the guy sings 'I can see him making love to you baby' please?
a search at AMG shows one record with the title "I Can See Him Making Love To You Baby".. but it's a short single (3:37) by Mayberry Movement!!!! (Opie takes a dump???) --but it was composed by Ray Dahrouge--so maybe this is a disco remake or cover?Originally Written by SandraDee
Further investigation leads me to Ray Dahrouge from the 1978 LP "Rendezvous With Destiny"...that is the song, I bet
I Can See Him Makin' Love to You, Baby
Ray Dahrouge
It's definitely the Ray Dahrouge version, as I bought a copy on hearing it on the mix :D
