"Chic Live at Montreux, 2004" DVD

    WOW!!!!!!!!!

I ordered a copy of this dvd from Nile Rodgers web site and watched it tonight for the first time. Terrific music! What a groove the new Chic has. Can it be that the new Chic is more dynamic the the original? Buy this dvd if you can, you'll love the music.

I am waiting for it to be released here in Brazil. They've released early this year CHIC LIVE AT BUDOKAN, JAPAN.

I love LIVE bands. It is just great to compare the live versions of Chic's songs to the originals.

Musicians are GREAT (great bassist replacing Bernard Edwards) but I find vocals not up to the originals one...

I came across this DVD at the store here.. I love Chic, but I was a little hesitant to buy this. As much as I admire Nile Rodgers, without Tony or Bernard, it doesn't quite feel the same.. After the good reviews here and on amazon though, I feel like giving it a chance..

    Chic - Montreaux 2004

I was sceptical as it only cost me about a fiver from Amazon US - sold through one of Amazon's resellers.
The DVD is brand new and lives up to all expectations - true it is not the original line up but the current line up is strong and, under Nile's production, CHIC lives on and Sylver Logan Sharp's vocals ensure that the original CHIC spirit is with us today as it was back in the late 70s & early 80s.

I thought that the songs on this DVD were tightly played and these renditions are far more faithful to the original recordings than the Live At The Budokan cd was. Of course it's not the same without Edwards and Thompson (and I would say without Anderson and Martin) but since there is so little live footage of Chic in their original line-up, this DVD serves a good purpose in preventing the Chic legacy from fading from public view. I really enjoyed watching the concert and was surprised at how very well the vocalists rose to the challenge.

I agree about the missing members. On the one hand it's as if the the Heart and Soul of Chic are missing and on the other hand Chic has found a new heart and soul. :D

I wonder if Eminem will be giving concerts in 30 years...?
