Imagine Weird Al or Divine singing "Payboy.. You’re nothing but a Payboy..." :POriginally Written by DJ Jimmy M
I have the newly version of her album (1993) which contains a remix of her 1979 hit "Come To Me". Also, I like the instrumental of that song! It also featured a recent pose (1993) of her on both the inside cover and on the CD!
I saw the 2005 version of France Joli on one of those PBS "Your Music" specials. hmmmmm....you could say Miss Piggy was in da house. Or was that Rita Cosby? I get them mixed up. :P
No, the lovely slim teenage Lolita-ish France is now one FAT MIDDLE-AGED MAMA!!! :P ![]()
****
No! :P Don't tell me that !!! . Get back to your cooking with virgin olive oil and red wine ( one glass) diet, Mdm. Joli !!!!
*****
remicks,
SHE WAS HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!
I never would known or guessed it was her if the caption didn't have her name on my TV screen. :o :o :o
Luckily she was performing alone-- cause if the was another singer on stage --you woulda needed a wide, wide, wiiiiiiiiiiiiiide Cinemascope screen to get them on one shot. :P
This reminds me of when Jeff said he saw Ann Wilson of HEEEEAAARRRT and WYYYYYYNOOOOOOONA of The Judds singing on some special and that DONNA SUUUUUUMMMMER was in the audience--but they didn't have her come on stage...cause they couldn't have pulled the cameras back to Cleveland to get them all in one shot!!!
Oh I kid the fat divas!!! :P :D
Remember, Joli was only 16 (!) when "Come To Me" was a U.S.A. hit in 1979. Unfortunately, it was her only major hit. Can imagine her being bigger than Celine Dion, another French-Canadian? It was not meant to be. As far as her appearance goes, I'm not bothered by it. If she was singing fine on the TV special, then that is all that matters.
*****
......then you'll loooooooove Aretha Franklin!! :P
*****
Aretha, as far as I know, was really not into disco too much. At the time that disco was huge, she left her longtime label Atlantic for Arista. She did have a wonderful song "Jump To It", which was a #1 R&B hit in 1982. Other than that she had minor hits in the disco genre.

I meant you might also enjoy this diva 's modern day performances because she's also big in other ways too...............![]()
Too bad Aretha didn't do some Loleatta Holloway type stuff ...just think how fun that would've been . Was Aretha recording at all..... in '77 --'80 ??? :-?
She finally got into it... at the tail end of the party .... as you said ....with "JUMP TO IT " and "FREEWAY OF LOVE "
Although I'm wondering if her SPARKLE tune "JUMP" will show up soon ... or at all ... on Marky's '76 chart ???????
