YES!!! There will be more MBs if things go as planned. However, alot of the "Black Party" mood is going to be with the music! Jerry's dragging out some terrific Trocadero classics I completely forgot about. Just remember the theme on the poster, "The sexier side of disco." Maybe we'll see you there, Remicks??! Marky, how about you? Jeff and I would love for you to be at the party with us.

I'm hoping to KEEFELC :D !! I've got a scheduling problem this time around (vacation :P ) ..so don't know if it's going to be possible yet .....

I want to highly suggest to anyone who'll be in the Bar Area , California , the United States ( ...and loves disco ) during that time ..this is such a great opportunity . One of my main reasons for going before was just to be able to hear the old era music ......... mixed live and played loudly on a great sound system .... the way it was always intended . This is such a great rare opportunity to be presented that experience .....

I'll cross my fingers that you'll be able to make it, Remicks! Jerry has already been to the club several times to get an idea how to tweak the sound system to sound better this time (and to check out how his reedits sound on a big system!). People that have heard some of the sneak previews (unfortunately I'm not one of them since he goes while I'm at work) are extremely excited.

BTW, "Bar" Area - guess that's a good description of SF!

Keefelc ...such teases are not fair :P

I've no doubt the music and the mixes will be terrific ..... I was there and heard them last time !!!

If I can ..... I will be there.....

I hope many others are planning to attend ......both those that want to re-experience some of those old times .... as well as those that were too young or whateveter and now want to get some idea of what it was like. The Troc is the real deal folks. It's been modified and sadly is now smaller ... but it is still more the same than not ...when you first pass through those doors that's the same way it was all those years ago ..... And to hear that music in there ....... 8)

And I found the crowd and everyone to be great and there for the right reasons ..... to mix and mingle ...to hear the music ... and mostly to dance their disco asses off....... the floor was full all night .... :D

(I knew both the Bay Area and The Bar Area pretty well back then :P )

I heard that, Remicks!! I was at a meeting where Jerry handed one of the producers a CD he made right in front of me. They been torturing me by keeping me completely in the dark about the Playlist so I'll be surprised on Oct. 9th. :o However, I was suspicious and I asked if the CD was full of snippets Jerry has created for the Black Party??? Of course, they said YES! It took every ounce of self control for me not to grab the disc and run home!! Of course, since they know where I live...

If I can ..... I will be there.....

Remicks, be sure to check your Email when you get home! :D

Everyone else, Remicks couldn't have describe the past parties more perfectly. We hope to see you disco lovers there! The producers throw these parties for the LOVE of the music we heard and danced to at Trocadero. They don't get rich off of these events. In fact, the parties are fundraisers for "Under One Roof." Many of us donate our time to the events in the hopes the Trocadero Transfer magic lives on for just a little longer. If you can, come and share the joy! :D

The name of the event on October 9th has just been changed to 'Remember' the Troc Party! Who knew that "The Black Party" is now a registered trademark of The Saint At Large Inc.??? However, this event continues to celebrate the spirit and atmosphere of the Black Parties at Trocadero of the 70s and 80s.

    A rose is a rose is a rose! :D

    >> registered trademark "Black Party"

The nerve... anyway I am sure there will be a shortage of "Black Party" garb in SF the weekend of the party... so be advised... lol!

Here we go, the weekend of 'Remember' the Troc Party is finally here!!! I am most curious if people will take this opportunity to have an excuse to dress up. Of course, since we're in San Francisco, maybe I should say dress down??? :D

Who from this Board will we see?

Keefe ....... .....I'm still dealing with this damn head cold .... going to work today ...... and if I wake up in the morning , feeling better ... I might zoom up there . I just know I'll read that playlist afterward and hate myself for missing it ..... :P ....

Have a great time IDA ..... is this your first one ??

I meant to mention one thing for first timers... I know last time I was concerned about us being there from 6-2 and getting .... hungry ! Didn't want to have to interupt the night to go eat something . So we took munchies like trail mix . BUT.... upstairs was a nice complimentary spread with fruit like bananas and cookies and I believe even water ..... ( besides the drinks from the bar of course ) .....

    That was a nice thoughtful touch ..... :D 8)

    I know it'll be a blast ........

    Hi Conor!
I'm pretty excited about the Party right now! The gang has been over at the club for the last couple of days setting up the special lights and audio. I'm picking up your fellow countryman, Pizzazz, at SF International Airport in about an hour. He timed his vacation to coincide with the party which the producers find VERY flattering. :D

Just learned we have a DJ from Australia that will also be attending! How cool that this event is drawing people from all over the U.S. and the world (JeffH is already here from Pittsburgh, PA!). The continuing power of the classic dance music from the 70s and early 80s.

I hope Remicks is feeling well tomorrow!

IDA and the others on the Board at the party, if you have a moment, stop me and say Hi! As usual, I'll be videotaping and sprinkling the cornmeal to keep those dancing feets gliding across the dancefloor! I'll be wearing one of the staff "Remember The Party" t-shirts. :D

Yep he was telling me all about it, Im well jealous of him getting to go. The most of the playlists for the past parties look excellent and I know it may not be hugely relevant but pretty much all the Viteritti tapes Ive heard are superb.

What do you reckon the odds are of getting him to play one of the RTP events??

And excuse my ignorance but whats the deal with sprinkling cornmeal on the dancefloor?Im intrigued, what effect does it have?

I was wondering how the Troc crowd would react

if I dragged my now 51 year old, slightly arthritic body to the party tomorrow (I'm 15 miles from San Francisco) and then Ida's posting pretty much summed it up for me: "the fewer locals the better." Well, pardon me for living....

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean it that way. Sometimes it's just nice to see new faces, especiallly if you've been living in SF for awhile. But then again, seeing familiar faces whom you don't know personally also is reassuring...OK, forget I said anything. Don't listen to this bitter queen.

***goes off in shame and hides in the corner***

    Hope you can make it!

Hey Skinflint! You would be surprised how the music, the lights and the crowds make the years melt away!! :D

Conor, a light sprinkling of cornmeal is to add a slight slipperiness to the dance floor which can become sticky from dirt, spilled drinks, etc. Easier to dance with the cornmeal!

I'm awake! I'm AWAKE!!! Got home a little before 4 am this morning. Slept for a few hours but then woke up thinking about the evening, and then my friends started calling to talk about the party.

I have to say this was the BEST party yet! A 15 mirror ball cluster in a spiral shape this time around. The lights were sooooo smooth and beautiful. All of Carla, Bob and Bobby's early preparations and planning paid off!

The club was PACKED all evening. At the last two events, people started leaving around 11 pm since they had to work. Not this time. The floor was crowded all evening long.

So, what about the music??? Well, the two opening numbers were Olivia Newton-John's "Magic" and George Benson "Give Me The Night" and the encore songs (the Glas Kat let us continue until 2:45 am) were Gloria Gaynor's "Never Can Say Goodbye" and Sister Sledge "Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me"!!! We were all singing along to that last number! :D

Lots of surprises in between. I'll be working on a playlist soon! Stay tuned... In the meantime, I hope everyone else from the Board that attended last night's event had a WONDERFUL time! Please share your experiences too!
