OMG, those song lyrics irritate me! Mushmouth Andrea needs some diction lessons. All the Web sites I found with "lyrics" claim that there is a line that goes "Night Trouble Lane's the place to be..." (just after the line "Dancing the night away/Oh what a joy at the Barefoot Boy...). Is there any such place? I always thought it was "The club remains the place to be..."

As for the lines in question, these sites claim it's "Don't cha beware, don't cha beware..." which makes no sense to me.

How about "Don't cha be lame, don't cha be lame/Keep on dancin'..." or "Won't cha be there, won't cha be there/Keep on dancin'..." or "Won't cha bay-beh, won't cha bay-beh/Keep on dancin'..." I could go on, but I've got work to do!

I think the line is "The club remains the place to be".

"Don't you do that, don't you do that, keep on dancing...."?

Just wondering: Why is the song called "N.Y., You Got Me Dancing" when she sings "New York, New York"? Actually, I like "Fill Me Up (Heart To Heart) better, a 10-minute song you can fall in love with! What is your favorite Andrea True Connection song?

I like "Call Me". It's Gregg Diamond's work, and best of all, it's mostly instrumental. :)

I loved that song. I believe the lyrics were "doncha beware" BTW, the Barefoot Boy was a big NY disco that was later known as Styx. Then it's "the club remains, the place to be. At 12 West, the sounds the best, I guess you can come in your jeans, but I still prefer, getting dressed up. But I still prefer gettin' dressed up for Regine's".....................

..... "you can come in your jeans" ......... :o !!!! :o ......... (note to self: don't let singing porn stars write any of the song lyrics )

"NYYGMD" is a fine tune and "WHAT'S YOUR NAME ,WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER" is not bad either.

But no self-respecting TOP 40 disco list would be absent "MORE MORE MORE " . :)

re: "N.Y. You Got Me Dancing"

I always wondered what the lyric was also. Sounds like "beware" to me, but doesn't make sense as a lyric. No matter though, the song MOVES. And I love EVERY song on the "More More More" album. That album and St. Tropez's "Belle de Jour" are my 2 favorite disco albums of all time in that neither has a single song I don't love. Haven't heard a single album release in the last 10 to 15 years that I love as much as those two. I've played both so often that I can now play them in my head and know which song follows which....

Ya, OK... it is a clever line (just don't quote part of it out of context!) !! :D

By the way I had resolved it to myself that she was singing "Don't cha be wet" also ..even though I didn't have a clue what that was supposed to mean. :-?

But then I always had a penchant for making lyrics out to be much more clever or obscure than they would usually in reality turn out to be ......

OSF : Can't wait to give the album another play!

:D Despite the fuzzy lyrics, I "LOVE" this song!!! Always puts me in a good mood! 8) Mario
P.S. I always thought I heard "Le Club remains the place to be..." Wasn't that a NYC Disco in the mid 70's???
P.P.S. I always thought that jeans were a no-no in the more stylish discos of the Big Apple... Mmm-mmm....

From what I remember Andrea True doesn't sing on any of the White Witch LP. Supposedly her voice was so horrible that another person had to sing the vocals. But they released it as an Andrea True record anyway.
Did that give Frank Farian an idea?

I hadn't heard that about the White Which album, but I'd have to say that Ms. True, if any of the vocals on either of the albums are actually hers, was only an adequate vocalist to begin with. I didn't mind though because Gregg Diamond's songs and productions were so sparkling that even an average singer could not have ruined them (I have similar feelings about Lime's records). And let's not forget that people have been faking it in the music business long before the Silly Vanilly scandal hit. I understand that Mr. Mister singer Richard Page sang on Village People records, and to go back even farther than that, keep in mind that Natalie Wood did NOT do her own singing in "West Side Story".

I would've thought the opposite. The vocals on White Witch are PAINFULLY bad. I've always thought that the song "More, More, More" was all or partially sung by someone else. It doesn't sound anything like the rest of the album or White Witch.

Oh, and Frank was already pulling that stunt with Boney M, IIRC...

    N.Y. lyrics

I just joined today, so sorry for digging up an old post, but I collect Andrea True. She does sing on all 3 of her albums. but Gregg Diamond did "help" her vocals out by overdubbing them on the tracks he produced with other vocalists (shhh, I don't think she knows it).

    Here are the lyrics:

I've been playing this Truetrack many times this week and as I sort of neglected it when it originally came out, it now has stolen my achy-breaky-heart. Damn good production. And maybe she doesn't have the greatest voice on earth it always sounds pleasant to me and indeed has a great xxx-factor

And now I'm gonna put my Leopardskin jumpsuit on and play it again and again.

    Abbafanusa, welcome to da madhouse!

Well, sometimes it's not about what the lyrics mean, it's just about what they sound like! The lyrics to "Risky Changes" don't mean a thing, but they sure got that swing anyway (...shot in the dark/star! star!/that's what you are/can't help it, gonna do it anyway...). Way back at the beginning of this thread I said the lyrics irritated me, but I should add that I still love the record!

Baby, baby with your hard luck story
You need a place to show to win
You'd still be waiting for me at the airport
while my ship was coming in
And N.Y. you're taking me dancing....

So "don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing

N.Y., N.Y., you keep me dancing, dancing
N.Y., N.Y., you keep me dancing, dancing

I'm so glad I saw your ad on every avenue
I'm so glad I saw your ad "in every place we drove"
It's a town so nice, they had to name it twice - N.Y., N.Y.
It's so hot, so hot, like an old soft shoe

"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing

N.Y., N.Y., you got me dancing, dancing
N.Y., N.Y., you got me dancing, dancing

    Dancing the night away
Oh what a joy at the Barefoot Boy
"Night Trouble Lane's" the place to be
At 12 West the sound's the best
I guess you can come in your jeans
But I still prefer..getting dressed up
But I still prefer getting dressed up for Regine's

"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing
"Don't you beware, don't you beware"
    Keep on dancing

N.Y., N.Y., you got me dancing, dancing

I can't remember either street for the first two, but Regine's was a snobby upscale disco on top of some hi-rise and the Barefoot Boy later became Styx - it was a fairly good size place (not huge like Studio 54 or the Saint) and had an all gay crowd. "Night trouble lane" was the area along West Street (I think) in the Village appropriately nick-named that for it's notorious activities after dark.

wasn't there a NY disco called "Tamburlaine" back in the day?? Maybe that's the place Andrea's talking about (especially when Barefoot Boy and 12 West are being mentioned...)
