    "A Love Trilogy"

today I bought the CD version of my favorite Donna Summer recording, "A Love Trilogy." It sounds terrrrrrrrible! Bassy and fuzzy. Don't know what went wrong, Donna's recordings on the Casablanca box set sound great, this CD doesn't even sound as good as the vinyl version of the album.

Universal in the US is issuing a 3 cd box set of Love To Love You, A Love Trilogy and Four Seasons this month. They are supposed to be remastered etc. That may be worht considering.

Thanks for the info... I've been meaning to pick the first two up on CD for a while, but Love Trilogy has been OOP for some time now.

thanks for the info, wish I'd waited for the remastered version. I'm still hoping that whatever record company has Casablanca's master recordings will release the original albums in their original form on HIGH QUALITY CDs. I could really get "lost" listening to the Love and Kisses, Alec Costandinos and Trocadero Lemon Blue releases on CD. Ditto Marlin Records, Prelude Records and Butterfly Records. And I've said this before but I'll say it again: I'll BET that if we disco fans were to bombard some record company with requests for these releases on CD, they'd eventually listen.

Just wondering: Does anyone know if this 3-CD Box Set of her albums contain previously unreleased material? I'm certain she has many recordings that have never been available before! I hope she chooses to share some of her music with us!

So far sa I know, there is nothing new, just the regular albums (which is unfortunate).

I seem to remember Giorgio Moroder saying in an interview that there's very little unreleased material -- it was far too expensive to record something and not recoup the costs by selling it.

Well, if the CDs were remastered, I can't hear any difference. :( I'm very disappointed that these set seems to be simply a repackaging of the 3 CDs in a long box, with a slot for the 3 title cards that were included with the original releases of the CDs.

The Japanese 4-disc box contains impeccable quality mastering of "Love Trilogy".

So, in the meantime, we in the U.S. get leftovers. :(

    How depressing!

Could you please provide more details? What else is in the box? I'm tempted to seek this one out...

It's not listed on Amazon.co.jp or cdjapan.co.jp. Did it come out recently?

I dont get it. I got this awesome CD when it 1st came out long ago and it sounds just as good as my album. This album was the very 1st time I ever heard of Donna Summer and I thought then that this new singer would go far. I would constantly hear this album with my huge headphones (They were bigger than my head) and listen to each bell, sigh, violin, horn, breath, etc, etc. and I would try to point a certain sound to my friends and they all thought i was crazy! I was though, crazy for Ms. Summer. sadly, after "She Works hard for the Money" I found myself not being excited about her any more. But I still LOVE her though.

No, it's a 1991 Mercury / Nippon Phonogram realese called "Donna Summer/The Complete Hits Collection", 4 cds in all. Pretty much everything from the disco years is there apart anything from the "Once Upon A Time" album.
