Here is another tracklisting I have found. I am guessing somebody decided to make a few adjustments to it. It looks as if not every song featured in the movie will be on the soundtrack.

I guess nobody has any thoughts or nobody really cares about whether younger generations get introduced to this music or not

I don't! .........**** 'em! Who cares if the little punks like disco or not ??? It's their loss !! Let them wallow in their own modern day crap !! Disco had it's day and there's no way it'll ever be experienced as meaningfully again .

By the way I was close to their age the first time around and most average joe's didn't like it then either . I had to fight tooth and nail to play disco on my radio show at SFSU and I was the only ( and I claim the first) radio DJ in the Bay area to do so. I was an outcast ...an oddity .... and not a part of the core group ..... ( not to mention ahead of the times ) Most aspiring jocks at the station wanted to play Peter Frampton over and over .
And when I became disco coordinator for Odyssey records I had to issue a memo insisting these rock droids include disco regularly in their in-store rotation.
It was only popular with the masses very briefly and really it's a special music for the rare few . And , in fact, I like it better that way . When I sort through boxes and boxes of records seeking out what for me is the good stuff I gladly leave behind the row after row of Linda Ronstadt , Seals & Crofts, Christopher Cross and all the other regular stuff .... for the regular folk !!!

Recently I was helping with an informal wine growers gathering and they were softly playing an ABBA collection in the background. ( No I don't know why ) When "LAY ALL YOU LOVE ON ME " came on I had the urge to go over and turn it off. This group had no right to dimenish this song into background music to sip wine over and I didn't want them to have such easy access to it . It wasn't theirs to be had .They hadn't earned the privilege. ( Besides it was blatant disco abuse !! :P )

As far as I'm concerned it's a long road journey and a hard earned privilege to be able to relate to and understand and appreciate this music..... :D 8)

Spellbound: It's not excatly that we don't care. It's just that many of the tracks have been on umpteen compilations before and this is a film soundtrack put together by film guys, who invariably don't have an idea what historical accuracy is and know as much about music as I know about films (which is bugger all).
OK its a film for 7-15 year olds. Most probably they'll love the more recent stuff and hate the disco, which will sound horribly dated compared to the others. What more can I say?

I understand what you are saying but most of these kids especially the younger ones are not old enough yet to even know about today's music or the music from times past

At their age music is music regardless of when it was made

I think this new generation of roller skaters might actually like this and may even go back and search for the original songs behind the samples. Not right now but later on

I know I still search for sample information of disco samples used by house and hip hop records released 10 -15 years ago

This soundrack is a step in the right direction. It could have been better but does that even really matter if you are a 7 year old?

Time to time my young relatives will ask who sings a disco song. I think alot of kids will relate to the music eventually. Let's face it, Disco will always be kinda cool. Can you think of another name for music that perks everyones ears when mentioned? Pop?, Rap?,

Let's not judge them before they've had a chance to see and digest the movie and soundtrack. Remember the adage "What's Old is New"
