I only saw this picture once, back in the 80's. I caught it on TV and I have no idea when it was released. If the info I'm sharing rings any bells for you please share the title with me. Boodikka, put your thinking cap on!
Concept: Haunted house (actually, it's a mansion) rented out for the summer by young college professor and five troubled students. Professor is trying to help students get past their drug problems while they work around the mansion and spend summer together.
It soon becomes apparent place is haunted. Students are attacked and one by one killed off. I believe one is raped by the entity before she is killed. The house has them locked in. Doors won't open, windows won't break. Climbing over the balcony gets a student electrocuted in a lightening storm.
The Payoff: Professor finds Satan's hide out is under the house, through some kind of door in the floor. After walking through the catacombs he comes upon a heavy-set guy in a bright-white suit sitting in a big chair. As they talk/test/argue with each other, the mild-mannered-guy-in-white-suit begins to transform: eyebrows thicken, goatee grows in, horns sprout from head. As our hero starts to run for his life you think he's going to get caught but, and I don't remember why, the front door is open and he runs out on to the lawn. Screaming with elation, "I'm free! I'm free!", the lawn turns to quicksand and our boy sinks to the bottom. Movie ends with a smirking gargoyle on the lawn and whatever damage was done to the house has been repaired.
This is all 'Grade B' cheesy crap but I really want to see if I can find this again. It's like the movie Boodikka remembered on the old board, "Equinox". I only saw it once but, like this one, I can't forget it.
Any and all clues greatly appreciated.
Nicky

Nick, you got me on that one. There were a slew of late '70s US/Canadian films I missed, in favor of the dreaded giallo films, and oddities like "Lemorah". I'm going to call Jussi in on this one.
The wind was fierce last night and I heard You summon me , Boodikka. I'm pained to report that of the film in question I know nothing...
Nicky and Jussi, Boodikka's powers are beyond imagination (all must genuflect before me)...... the film in question is The Evil (1978)! It starred Richard Crenna, Joanna Pettet (CASINO ROYALE), B-Movie Lord Andrew Prine, Lynne Moody (SOAP), and Victor Buono. Always remember, Boodikka rules the Wasteland!![]()

All praises due to Boodikka![]()
(curtsies to her adoring multitude of fans)
Thank you, Paul!
Boodikka,
You are a Goddess with supernatural powers indeed! How the hell do you do it? Andrew Prine was the actor's name I couldn't remember. I totally forgot that Richard Crenna was even in it. Lynn Moody (the lady that was raped in the movie) and Victor Buono, old Satan himself. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Now I can go searching because, who knows why, I want this film.
BOODIKKA RULES!
LOL, Nicky
Nicky, meu amor, the mystical powers of Mighty Boodikka are vast indeed....Boodikka is the mistress of all existence, the goddess of the....ummm...things that..do...ummm....
I went to IMDB, entered "Satan" in the Plot Search tool, after a bit of scrolling, there it was! I was happy to help, as ever.
Behold! The powers of Boodikka also grant good fortune. "The Evil" will soon be mine as our goddess spoke the sacred name (Richard Crenna) which bore fruit on eBay. The lost treasure is valued at $9.95.
I say again, "All Hail, Boodikka!"
Thank you, love. I can't wait to see this schlock piece again.
Nicky
