    Producing hi-nrg music !

I have always been interested in all forms of music and especially writing/producing dance music. I do play keyboards and would love to know more about the process that went into writing/producing all those great hi-nrg tracks. Have any of you guys been involved with that ?

If you can find someone who's a wizz in the studio and can interpret what you want, knows how to structure a song, you well away and MONEY.I went into the studio in South Africa with Paul Crossley(people like us),he'd asked me to bring some tapes along. We listened to them and he told ?(can't remember his name) I want that sound, the guy would fiddle around till he got what Paul wanted.About 8 hours later I had a copy on tape of Deliverance(pre Cindy vocal).I couldn't believe how easy it had all been.Paul, however had a wonderful ear for music and knew what would sound good just didn't know how to do it.
So Neil when can we expect your first 12" on white label?

Thanks for that Charlie ! I find all this fascinating stuff. i suppose with todays technology you dont actuallly need proper keyboards - you can use specially designed programmes on your PC equipment. It has always been adream of mine to write/produce my own hi-nrg disco track.
It must have been great to go into the studio with paul Crossley - His music with People Like Us was superb. Was Cindy Dickinson a local singer ? I can`t recall ever hearing anything else by her except her recordings on Deliverance/Midnight Lover.. They seemed to like using Angie Gold as well.
I cant imagine it would cost very much nowadays to have some 12" white labels pressed up ?

Fighting for our lives, was first recorded by a male South African vocalist(got a copy), Paul tried to license it in the uk to Anne Packston(sp). She thought the accent was wrong and agreed to have a listen to any other tracks.Cindy Dickinson was a singer with a covers band who played in straight clubs.Paul got her on board to sing Deliverance and then Midnight Lover.I remember her first "live" show.her saying to me "It's so fast". She had done the vocal, but not heard the backing track.
Cindy's boyfriend didn't like her flying around the world promoting, that's when Angie stepped in, with a push from Anne(passion).Well I'm sure that's bored u enough......

Cheers pal. Angie Gold is a well respection singer and still busy today ! I think those hi-nrg recordings were a great launch pad for her career. I believe she hails from my home city, Manchester !

    Re: Producing hi-nrg music !

Having remixed the original version of Fighting For Our Lives, I wanted to know if you are aware how to get in touch with Terry Owen or whomever would own Fighting now, as I know someone who wants to re-issue it.

    Thanks,
    Vince

    Hi Vince

Sorry have not seen Terry since Paul died. Why don't you try Anne, she might have contact with Terry or know who owns Fighting now. She was with Passion at the time and now with Klone record, try their web site.
