Melba Moore - Pick me up I'll Dance

Does anyone know of a CD with this track on it (full length 12 inch version if possible)?

    Thanks!

    Two albums:

Live at the Paradise Garage by DJ Larry Levan and another album put out by EPic called Melba (though this one might be out of print.)

I'm not sure if either album has the 12" version.

I love this song!! The LP from 1978 that has this song shows Melba in a painters uniform painting her name. The flip slide of the LP has another great Melba hit, "You Stepped Into My Life". Incidentally, the 12" inch version of Pick Me Up I'll Dance actually has an extended instrumental on the flip side as well. This song represents that wonderful, "great to be alive" feeling that was so much apart of the late 1970's disco music.

I think there are actually different versions of Pick Me Up I'll Dance as well, I think? Some version does not have the back-up singers in the background. Hopefully, someone else has more info on this.

The original album is not in print presently on Cd. I just bought her 1982 "The other side of the rainbow", 1986 "A lot of love, and her 1988 "I'm in love" on CD. The 86 and 88 Cd's together cost me about $50.

Try phasing 2 copies of the 12" of this... the deep male background vocal leaps out in the most stirring way!

Her 1979 LP Burn has some rollicking good disco tracks on it.

Funny you should mention Burn. I just listend to this last weekend. It was produced by Pete Bellotte (Moroder collaborator) and I was amazed at how much Bellotte made Miss Melba sound like Miss Donna Summer (circa "Bad Girls").

Especially the 3rd track on side one: If You Believe In Love-- Sounds like something left over from the "Bad Girls" sessions. I also thought it was the best track.
