Does anyone have a favorite disco instrumental song? I admit that my favorite song is "Fly Robin Fly" by The Silver Convention (which earned them a Grammy for "Best R&B Instrumental Song" [1975]). Other common favorites would include "The Hustle" by Van McCoy & Soul City Symphony, "Quiet Village" by The Ritchie Family, "Love's Theme" by Love Unlimited Orchestra, "Theme from 'S.W.A.T.' " by Rhythm Heritage, and "Love Is The Message" by M.F.S.B.
Any opinions?

My favorite all most instrumental song would have to be "Tourist in Paradise" by the Rippingtons from 1989. It does have Carl Anderson doing a brief scat. It's not really 100% disco, but has a steady rhythm like the Hi records sound.
I played as many instrumentals as I did actual songs (an exaggeration, but just to emphasise that there were one hell of a lot of instrumentals), but I won't bore y'all with more than just a few.
Willie Bobo - Always There (boss version of this toon)
Rhythm Makers - Zone (had to get it in....again)
Blackbyrds - The Baby
Maze - Twilight
Azymuth - Jazz Carnival
Pieces Of A Dream - Mt. Airy Groove
Blue Rondo A La Turk - Me & Mr. Sanchez (instr)
Ray Parker & Raydio - Still In The Groove
Crown Heights Affair - Dreaming a Dream
Crystal Grass - Crystal World
QUINNY, only "Dreamin' A Dream" from your list ever became a hit in the United States. The Blackbyrds had a couple neat songs. Here are others not already mentioned in this post:
"Express" by B.T. Express
"K-Jee" by M.F.S.B.
"The Fifth Of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band
"Manhattan Skyline" by David Shire
"Dancing In The Aisle" by The Silver Convention
Monstars- Funny Saga
Foxy- You Make Me Hot (isn't completely instrumental, but I like that aspect of the song.
"Romeo & Juliet" by Costandinos.
"Tangerine" "SalSoul Hustle" "Nice 'N Nasty" by the SalSoul Orchestra.
"Love's Theme" by the Love Unlimited Orchestra.
"Love Is The Message" by MFSB.
Simon Peter is one of my favorites too. Trocadero Suite is also cool, but it's a bit to Euro for my tastes.Originally Written by DiscoMan

Yes Billyno I also like that one much , they also made a good Instrumental called The Horse but i did not get the Lp title now :roll:Originally Written by Billyno
MFSB instrumentals
SALSOUL ORCHESTRA instrumentals.
RINDER & LEWIS instrumentals... I mean AFRODESIA, MASQUERADE, BAHIA, LUST, PRIDE, BLUE STEEL, etc... even COCOMOTION... those brief "c'mon let's do the cocomotion" doesn't count as a vocal line in a 12 minute instrumental song.
Under The Skin by The Brothers, which melts into Sugar Free by Hank Crawford, and as the sax gets even hotter the track turns so smoothly into Chicago Theme by Hubert Laws. Lay Deodato's Shazam over Hubert, perfect harmony. Did that last summer, the cool crowd loved it. The CTI sound, can't go wrong with that.
blue steel is an amazing trackOriginally Written by Marcio

I prefer Ole Goat by the Atlanta Disco Band. Many of those guys also played on the Mighty Clouds of Joy albums from that time which were all produced by Dave Crawford. And a few were also members of MFSB. Just a little trivia.Originally Written by Mario
And Street Talk is an awesome tune. I discovered it in the last year or so and I can't believe I hadn't heard it before. I loved it so much I got the 12", 7" and LP. I prefer the 12" mix because the LP one sounds kind of dry, but it's still a wicked track.
