"Because there's music in the air."
If I ever come across a copy I'll get it. But I'm such a cheapskate. If I don't find it in a bargain rack, I may never buy it. (That's part of the thrill of the hunt for me. Finding the gems at thrift stores and garage sales.)
Around 1979/1980 I discovered a used record store. And a local dj would sell them his promo 12" singles. He must have belonged to the local DJ Record Pool. Because I would always find a lot of obscure non-radio club stuff. And the prices were great. For 99 cents I bought things like the Razzmatazz 12" by Quincy Jones/Patti Austin, the first La Bionda album, the Revanche album, the Tiger Tiger album by Gregg Diamond, the Rough Diamond album by Madleen Kane. And on and on and on.
So my question is, of your vintage music purchases, do you find any of them at bargain prices? And what are your secret shopping sources?

I know what you mean... I tend to find most of the "gems" tucked away in second hand music shops/charity shops - I`m always lucky as the 80`s HINRG records tend to be very cheap as well.I also go to monthly record & CD fairs and you can find some great bargains. I do buy stuff from e-bay, which is always a good source but I do not like to pay "over the odds" On a saturday afternoon you will always find me wanderinga round the second hand shops seeking out those bargains ! :icon_mrgreen:
So many !! I found some original SHARON REDD 12" singles (remixes). Various import copies of DIVINE tracks from his BOBBY O period....Picked thes eup at very reasonable prices too ! i will have a look through my collection and list some of the bargains I have picked up !

Side 1: Arabian Affair, 2. Arabian Affair part 2, 3. Arabian Affair part 3, 4. Arabian Affair part 4, 5. Arabian Affair part 5. Side 2: Disco Arab, Desert Dance, Ode to Yonina, Abdul's Dance, Arabian Nights.
In the late seventies there was a song called "Arabian Dance" by Arabian Affair - a different group. I only had the 7" pressing of it. Does anybody know if there was a 12" release of "Arabian Dance?" If I am not mistaken, Ariola issued this track at the time.

Thanks, Neil. I have to make a correction though. The group`s name was ANTARES -- not Arabian Affair. Before I went to bed last night I tried to remember the rhythm and the chorus. The song went like this: "Arabian, Arabian, Arabian Dance. There were no other words, I believe. The line "Arabian, Arabian, Arabian Dance" was repreated over and over again from the beginning to the end. The sleeve depicted a black-and-white drawing of a (female) belly dancer. Her face was covered with a (harem) veil from the eyes down.![]()
Arabian, Arabian Dance sounded very catchy. Year of release: 1978.
By the way: Does anybody know what "Antares" means and what language it is? I´ve seen it in the names of some restaurants. I have no idea whether it´s an Italian, Turkish or ??? expression.
