For me it must have beem EASY LOVE by Vikki benson - A gem of a track !!
For me it began with Katmandu's " The break" and then the Immortals" Ultimate Warlord", these tunes for me signalled a beginning and set me searching for similar music, what did it for you??
For me it must have beem EASY LOVE by Vikki benson - A gem of a track !!
For me:
The Flirts: Helpless
"Lovin' Is Really My Game" by Brainstorm
Lime 'Your love' on UK Excaliber.
Jessica Williams - Queen of Fools OR
Marsha Raven - Catch Me. Can't now recall which I heard first.
Earlene Bentley: Caught In The Act
For me it was Divine's "Love Reaction" :D
I'm Alive - American Fade
and "Rocket to Your Heart" - Lisa made me a fan for life
Masterpiece, you should have seen it - That rainbow in the moonglow. Masterpiece, you've got to live it - That new dawn tomorrow!
Sharon Redd stuff at school without realising or defining it as Hi NRG.
Then when I hit the clubs the obligatory 'So many men' and absolutely the Hot Tracks of Lisa's 'Rocket to your heart' Still sends chills. I must find it on CD. I've got a red vinyl 12" that I think I want to look after.
I really got into it because of DONNA SUMMER's I FEEL LOVE and when "disco" was pronounced d-e-a-d [false rumor !!!] - I was glad to get my 4-on-the-floor fix with those great NRG classics from RECORD SHACK,PASSION,ALMIGHTY and LOADING BAY labels among others.
The passion, the drama and those hot electronic rhythm tracks ; what else can you ask for ?
Even in the 70's those GIORGIO MORODER electronic numbers made me a fan forever.NOW I NEED YOU quickly replaced IFL as my all-time SUMMER favorite.
KRIS
"Magnifique" by Charisma and Magnifique respectively. The record was released in Germany in 1979 -- that was about the time when disco split into high energy and house. "Magnifique" was remixed several time on DISCONET and it was a hard to find track. Recently I was very lucky to get the automan8 remix of it (I think it was made in the UK in 2004 or so) and a second (rare) remix by the "Jersey Devils Social Club." The original track (part 1) of Magnifique appeared on a German sampler compiled by a DJ. ( I assume it was a young DJ, but the fact that this song was included on the cd proved that "Magnifique" is a DISCO classic. Producer was Anthony Monn. This 1979 production still sounds fresh today. My thoughts.
hmmmmm , only two :icon_twisted:
1 - love trap - by astaire
2 - u and me - by flirts
incredible tracks :icon_mrgreen:
Not sure if Anita Astaire exists.. It was quite common for those tracks to be recorded by session singers (i.e. Tracy Ackerman, Nicci gable, Jackie Rawe) but the "group"/"singer" on the front cover could be someone totally different. ian levine did that quite often with his studio based groups like CROISETTE, MIDNIGHT SUNRISE & EASTBOUND EXPRESSWAY
"Searchin' (I Gotta Find a Man) from Hazell Dean on Proto Records!
Your Disco Needs You
Melody Maker in the Netherlands is a good address. They offer two different cd albums (artist: Lisa) -- the hot productions and the unidisc cd. The original version (over 9 minutes) of Rocket to your heart appears on both cd's I believe. One cd features several mixes of Jump Shout including remix 1 and 2 -- A Must! :icon_biggrin:
Lots of other good stuff on that site.
For me it was:
"Don't Stop The Rock" by FREESTYLE
which I don't care too much for nowadays...
and of course
"Rendezvous" by STOP which to this day I still listen to and even have 3 different versions of it as I own a 12" 1985 record for this song. I don't even own a record player lol
I don't think there was one particular record that got me into the music, but the first ones I bought were:
Waterfront Home - "Take a Chance On Me"
Joe Yellow - "Lover To Lover"
Bobby 'O' - "She Has a Way"
I'd listen to them constantly in my room in Halls of Residence, and even the intrumental sides would make me go all weak.
They still have that effect. I love the early Italo sound of the Joe Yellow track, and the Bobby 'O' stuff would get me every time.
