    Sparks

    Me again...

What does everyone think about this lot? In the late 70's and early 80's I think they released some great European inspired stuff, especially "Beat The Clock", "The Number One Song In Heaven" and "Tryouts For The Human Race", which I had on a blue vinyl 12"! :D

    Love Sparks :)

This town aint be enough for the both of us. Pure quality.

Later good ol Moroder produced them, giving them that disco sound.

Their later stuff was also pretty cool, especially their hi-nrg track "Music That You Can Dance To" if you haven't heard it, buy it.

Good to see ya back by the way Phrankie :)

Music That You Can Dance To great tune!

Also check out When I'm With You from 1980 bit more laid back but has a great instrumental version as well as the vocal version :)

I only discovered THE SPARKS recently. I found the MUSIC YOU CAN DANCE TOO LP going cheap - It is very euro sounding and has some good songs on it.

Sparks, another pop/rock group that 'went disco'. I wonder waht the Mael brothers are up to today. I sold my 'Halfnelson' album years ago.

To say that they are just another Pop group or that they "went disco" is neither fair or fully true. They have been all around "experimenting" with different genres. They still do.

You left out the Bearsville K45510 1972 A woofer in a tweeter's clothing from the list of their early albums.

And one of my favourite Spark's tracks is "When Do I Get To Sing My Way", which was huge in Germany, but was cruelly overlooked in the UK, just scraping into the Top 40 :D

Sparks are undoubtedly one of the most original, witty & influential groups of all-time. Without Sparks there would be no Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Blancmange, etc, etc,etc.... 8)
