Early this year came a modern dance song called "Hey Baby" by DJ Otzi which really topped the pop charts in Australia and I think DJ Otzi even performed live on Top Of The Pops.

Anyhow there's a funny story to go with this song. I go to the local gym near the leagues club in Unanderra twice a week and they have 94.9 Power FM pop radio crankin' and for over 6 weeks straight EVERYTIME I go to the gym I hear "Hey hey baby (hu ha)
I wanna know if you'll be my girl", it's like the next time I go to the gym I KNOW that song is going to come on again, and it did and I was trying to stop myself laughing while exercising on the equipment. This is one of some modern dance songs I like, and I find the hu's and ha's hilarious  .

Anyhow the other day I was listening to Ringo Starr's "Ringo's Rotogravure" LP one of the songs was "Hey Baby". I was surprised to find out that this modern dance pop hit ain't original.

I wonder what's going to be the next old song to be remixed?

And are artists of today running out of ideas for song writing?

DJ Oetzi is some kind of "Oktoberfest" or "mallorca-party" music - it's ok when you're drunk, but when you aren't it's terrible...

    Funky Dude,

"Hey! Baby" was cowritten and performed by Bruce Channel. Big hit in the summer of 1962!!!

As Peter Allen (from Australia, too) once observed "Everything old is new again".

There's one funny thing about this song. Everytime I hear it, I imagine the video clip being DJ going "HEEEEEEEEEY HEY BABY!!!" and then 50 weight lifters on their benches pushing the weights up and going "HU" and then bringing the weights down near their chest and going "HA" and then DJ going "I WANNA KNOOOOOOOOOOOW WOULD YOU BE MY GIRL!!!". Haven't seen the video clip but imagine the video clip having 50 weight lifters doing the HUs and HAs while lifting weights.
