EARLY 80's FLOORFILLERS AT KEEP ON

The ‘Early 80’s Floorfillers’ lists, which can be found in the current issue of Keep On, are now included on the magazines website, but in much greater detail

Like the '81 & '82 charts. They certainly bring back memories.
Level 42 'Turn it on', loved that. Ahh, my fave from '81 was Light of the world 'Time'.
Do you remember Froggy doing a Monday slot on Peter Powells Radio 1 show at 5.30pm. It was they only time you heard decent tracks then apart from the dance shows on Luxembourg.
LOL, I remember rushing out and buying Blue Feather 'Let's funk tonight' after Froggy played it!

Wow!!! What lists!!! What a mixture!!1981 has to be one of my fave years for music, and it's no wonder. There were some great funky and jazzy tunes around back then. I didn't see "Keep On" by Touch on there though. I have a good chunk of those on the list in my record collection thankfully.
Imagine a club night with those records playing.
    Great stuff!

Hi Davicillo: I knew Froggy fairly well at that point and once sat in on the show with him (my first visit to Broadcasting House, if my memory serves me right)

Hi midas: As Davicillo pointed out, it's the instro flip side of 'Play at Your Own Risk' (I often played the instros or dubs in preference to the main sides).

Hi buckaroo: I've extended the 82 and 83 lists to 100 tracks each for the electrofunkroots website (update should be online in a few more weeks) and you'll be pleased to hear that 'Keep On' by Touch made the next 50 for '82.

Lots of these tracks are being revived by younger DJ's, who have rejected House and are now particularly interested in the music that inspired House from the early 80's and late 70's.

    Hey Greg,
Glad to hear that the young buck DJs are FINALLY getting into some of the Brit-funk that was doing the biz BITD. The music scene does seem to stagnate every so often, so it gives us all a chance to look back. I'd be interested to see the lists for 1982 and '83 and '84. That was about the time when electro and hip hop was starting to really kick off here, and a lot of great electronic music was coming out of the states.

    Keep it up.

    BTW?
What about "Funk me down to Rio" by The RAH Band (1981+'82)

Hi buckaroo: Go back to link above and scroll down - you'll find lists of 50 floorfillers for 82 and 83.

I played 'Funk Me Down To Rio' (also 'Perfumed Garden') at the time, but the two biggest Rah Band tracks up North were 'Falcon' and 'Slide'.

    Greg;

Any chance of you doing a 'Renaissance Classics' 3 CD set of your early 80's floorfillers? Sheer heaven for my CD decks!

Hi Davicillo: Email me at electrofunkroots@yahoo.co.uk with your address and I'll send you a copy of the 'Best Of 83' mix I did for Piccadilly Radio in Manchester back then.

Aah...Oooh..I'd forgotten about "Falcon" etc. What about "Inside Out"? They were good, until they released dodgy shite like "Clouds Across The Moon" :-? Their biggest hit. I have to admit...I still liked it though...

I'll check out the lists again.
