I say The Karminsky Brothers because they amaze. They have ways of making you dance and jerk uncontrollably. The Bros spin blazing hot bongo boogie tunes like "Cloud Nine" by Mongo Santamaria, bizarro disco stuff, bossas from lounge heaven, all kinds of weird soundtracks plus their own masterpieces.

For pure disco I say dj Aicha from Paris, she's underground and ultradisco and totally smashing. No decaf disco, only the real thing. Close your eyes and you are back at 12 West.

    For house, Dimitri of course.

From what i've heard in London over the last 25 years in no particular order...
Kenny Carpenter- great selection and workin the system
Norman Jay - always fantastic for the funk
Lil Louis - stunning sets in the early 90's including a half hour JB mix at the Ministry
Larry Levan - druggy and great, 1st time I heard proper RnB disco on a huge system
Francois K - stunning use of a big system
Marc Lawrence - resident at the Fridge years ago and way ahead of his time .RIP
    Tony Humphries- smooth
    Krankie Knukles - V. smooth
Terry Hunter - deep and funky
Jay Strongman - Roller boogie in Camden!
Paul Trouble Anderson - Best at boogie and house
Karminsky Experience - Although if you had to listen to them getting their samples together for their remix of Ma Na Ma Na in the room above your living room it should have put me off for life! But it didn't - 1, 2 Cha Cha Cha!!!
The Horsemeatdisco dj's - always putting a smile on me face
Oh yeah.... and ME!!!! Ha Ha

My favorite DJ's are from a slightly different genre.
    1) Vaughn Harper-Quiet Storm
    2) Yvonne Mobley-Soft touch
    3) Felix Hernandez-Rythmn revue
    4) Hal Jackson-Sunday classics

I really enjoyed when Vaughn Harper had free reign to pick out music for the Quiet Storm. Many sets had a theme; some involved just ladies; others were all instrumental. He did have an expanded list of songs. The ones that he absolutely favored were based on uniqueness, quality, and the fact nobody else was playing it. (ie Basic Black-Special kind of fool, Nu soul Habits- Bring your lovin' home)

Aicha does parties at the Delaville, which got included in the Paris edition of the hip guide series "Style Cities". Google Discolounge and you'll find her there.

The Karminsky's used to do Madame JoJo's of London a lot but I don't know what's going on with the bros right now. They put out a series of incredible cds a few years back, including "Espresso Espresso", one of the best comps in history which included Astrud Gilberto's classic underground dance track "Beginnings".

I heard Deep Dish is kind of Prog and Tribal.
As he's playing in my town next town, I'm doubting whether I should see him.

I wouldnt recommend them based on the crap they are producing and DJing nowadays.

Anyway my favourite DJS would be:

    Larry Levan
    Roy Thode
    Jim Burgess
    (All from tapes)

    Derrick Carter
    Nicky Siano
David Morales(When he decides to play more underground)
    Bodytonic residents(Other than myself)
    Theo Parrish

International: Bob Sinclar, Danny Krivit, DJ Milo. I didn't hear Aïcha live yet but I'm pretty confident in her skills and Jussik is usually right, so :D The mixes I heard from Jimmy M and Wuakeen are also TOP!

Belgium: The great unknown for most here, but Jan Van Biesen is superb! Also, The Flying Dewaele Brothers a.k.a Soulwax and The Glimmers a.k.a. Mo & Benoelie. And for House and Disco, it's Smos & Baby B who are residents @ the famous Café D'Anvers.

The beef is personal. It's matter of theft. I'm not going to get in to it.

    Thanks for voting for me!

    Revisited Thread

I had to voice my opinion as I revisited, this thread!

I'm feeling Danny Krivit right now!

Since I've heard him live, it was a joy hearing edits old and new!

Mr. K is in the house!
