    Too broke to boogie

    *****

This artist got lots of club play .... but not enough ....

On DEC . 23 , 1976 just as disco was really cookin' .... bankruptcy was filed ....citing : "survival in destitute circumstances" including the challenge of having a "chauffeured limousine to take my children to school " .... :o

    So who was it ..
that by 1977 ......was so poor the kids had to walk to school .....???

    ???

Your second clue gave it away as Isaac Hayes. Didn't know his kids were chauffered to school. :o That bankruptcy and his battle with Stax/Enterprise kept him off the scene for many years. Shaft! --- Can you did it? :D
