Just got home from a record store!! (no I ain't lying  )

Listening to this very odd italian electronica album by a duo named Double Beat. Some unlikely mixture of James Brown style horn sections and drum and bass....but I like it! :D

Well, I’m usually listening to stuff every ones mentions around here and some other I find during the search, think of crazy dude digging for records every time someone mentions something here, I don’t know if it just me, but I can’t remember half the stuff, but thats the fun of it all

This is my life- Shirley Bassey
    Love is – Southern exposure
Street Talk – BCG ( cherry boy is nasty trash, glad I missed it)
    Spacer – Sheila B Devotion
    El Velero – Lucio Battisti
Girl you need a change..- Eddie Kendricks
Bitter Sweet – Shakatak (off the cd only Nick)
“Dance your troubles away" LP by Archie Bell and Drells
First true love affair –Jimmy Ross original italian mix
Touch me – Wish with Fonda Rae 8)
    Double love- Crackin’
    Round and round- Gary’s Gang

In the car I’ve been playing the best of Gato Barbieri for the last two weeks, his version of “Poinciana” is sweet!

    Hey Mixmachine,
On that original Italian mix of "First True Love Affair", is it different that the 12" that was sold here in the states? The 12" I have (not that one  ) has a green label on the vinyl. How long is the Italian mix?

Paul this italian 12" on FullTime label (FTM_31502) doesn't list time on it, but I recorded it for you :D on my PC and it clocks at 8:17, this one has a “Kano” like electro base intro and break, it also has the instrumental only on the flip, As far as I remember this was the only version I always used, I have here the Levan mix for the domestic market on RF/Quality Records (KRFC-002) 7:15 and 5:39 versions, I don't remember this version at all and I've been debating un-sealing this copy since I may have another one some place else. Jimmy Ross was a monster hit in Miami clubs..

    Thanks Mixmachine. :D
I'm not home but I'm sure mine is the RFC label. The intro and break on the Italian version sounds similiar the RFC. The intro and break both having that extended electro base like "Kano."
That song was also big in both Boston and NYC.

Is that the Capricorn who did the '82 hi-nrg track 'I Need Love' on Italian Delirium records? If so, is there an LP as that I Need Love track is so expensive in 12" form. :(

Yep, and the same producers as Easy Going BTW. I doubt that there ever was a full album by Capricorn.

I made some "smart playlists" in J.river Media center where a lot of my vinyls now are stored.
One playlist is called "1 Disco CD"- (not so original. I know)
Randomize any dance tracks from 75-80.

When I pushed the button now and started listening this is the first 10 that came up:

Sweet Sweet City Rythm_Summer In The City Medley Fantasia Feat Peggy Santiglia 1978
Steppin' (Out) The Gap Band 1979
    Rollin' On Kleeer 1979
    Disco Computer Transvolta 1979
    Palace Palace Who's Who 1979
One More Step To Take Delegation 1979
    Hollywood 7 Alides Hidding 1980
    Cisselin' Hot Chuck Cissel 1979
    You+Me=Love Masterpiece 1980
    Need Love Melba Moore 1979
    ....

I've been as happy as a pig wallowing in 'u-kno-wat' since I found the 12" and the CD single. Remix is nice --- extended intro, all-too-short break in the middle, an a cappella (well, actually, drum & voice) breakdown just before the fade out for those fun segues --- can't get enough! :)

Now, what have I been playin' this week...

    1) WATERBED - LTG EXCHANGE
    2) BROTHERS THEME - THE BROTHERS
    3) LAW AND ORDER - LOVE COMMITTEE
    4) KHEMISTRY - entire lp --- sweet 8)
    5) YOU'RE THE ONE - LITTLE SISTER (Guys, pick up the following CD if you can: Hard to find 45s on CD: Sweet Soul Sounds. It contains this gem by Little Sister in its complete 6:39 format, no parts 1 and 2. Awesome! :D )
    6) SO GOOD SO RIGHT - IMAGINATION
    7) LULLABY FROM ROSEMARY'S BABY - THE HARVEY AVERNE DOZEN
8 ) DANCE, DANCE - TITO PUENTE, JR.
    9) FIERCE! - C+C MUSIC FACTORY
    10) BITCH TO THE BOYS - SHAKATAK (along with Bitter Sweet, of course)

Heck, I forgot the Motown Disco CD. These sound sooo good. And I never knew the Grey & Hanks hit, "Dancin"', was a cover taken from Jerry Butler. :o Gotta love the surprises.
