But the compil you placed here is indeed very interesting, f.e. Bionic Boogie. Is this 2CD a recent output?
I found this CD last Saturday at Amoeba. Its another British compilation put together by Ian Dewhirst on Original Selection records. I had most of the titles :-? and it had no timings on the back cover    (my pet peeve)--but I saw one title I had to have....WHO AM I by Quickest Way Out. I went home and quickly went through it to get the timings, some were extended, some were short versions... luckily WHO AM I is a long version. :D
CD 1: DISCO ANTHEMS
1) ARMED & EXTREMELY DANGEROUS - First Choice (4:55)
2) NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE - Gloria Gaynor (2:51)
3) LOVE IS YOU - Carol Williams (4:35)
4) YOUR SWEETNESS IS MY WEAKNESS - Barry White (8:01)
5) NOW THAT WE FOUND LOVE - Third World (3:56)
6) WAS THAT ALL IT WAS - Jean Carn (3:21!!!)   (why don't they ever use the 12" version????)
7) ONLY YOU - Teddy Pendergrass (7:54)
8. YOU OUGHT TO BE DANCING - People's Choice (6:13)
9) RUNNING AWAY - Roy Ayers (3:10)
10) MYSTERIES OF THE WORLD -MFSB (3:36)
11) CREAM ALWAYS RISE TO THE TOP - Greg Diamond's Bionic Boogie (6:39)
12) THINK IT OVER - Cissy Houston (3:23)
13) ALL NIGHT MAN - Loose Change (7:19)
14) SMALL CIRCLE OF FRIENDS - TJM (6:29)
15) BUSTING OUT - Material (w/Nona Hendryx) (6:24) (Didn't have this on CD--never noticed how much the music was "reminiscent" of "Born To Be Alive" by Patrick Hernandez!!!)
CD 2: FUNKY DISCO
1) AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH - Inner Life (3:46)
2) THE PLAYER - First Choice (7:10)
3) AIN'T NO STOPPING US NOW - McFadden & Whithead (3:35)
4) LOVE SENSATION - Loleatta Holloway (4:55)
5) STRUT YOUR FUNKY STUFF - Frantique
(3:35)
6) IF MY FRIENDS COULD SEE ME NOW - Linda Clifford (3:46) THIS IS "FUNKY"??? :P
7) WHO AM I - Quickest Way Out (5:15) :D
8. THE MEDICINE SONG - Stephanie Mills (3:45)
9) NIGHT TIME FANTASY - Vicki Sue Robinson (3:24)
10) AM I DREAMING TJM (8:10)
11) LOVE FREEZE - First Choice (5:41)
12) WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK - Ultra High Frequency (6:23)
13) I LIKE (WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO ME) - Young & Co. (4:12)
14) RUNAWAY LOVE - Linda Clifford (3:24)
15) LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY - Donna Summer (3:15) Why even bother???
But if ya haven't heard Who Am I and like that sorta Ashford & Simpson sound with a 1976 Philly pop groove and an irresistible chorus--get this!!!! :D :D :D

I've heard of most artists. But who is TJM?
TJM = Tom and Jerry Moulton
Tom Moulton and his brothers studio group. Their wonder is "I dont need no music".... Go and fetch it in long version only !
Eddie-TJM was a studio release on Casablanca circaOriginally Written by eddie
1979 by famous disco mixer
Tom Moulton(these are his
initials-maybe the J is for
James or Joseph-not sure)The promo 12" is double
sided and has the above title along with the excellent "put yourself in my place".I think Moulton
wanted to create something
that went back to disco's
soulful side(1974-75)and he
did,it was just unfortunately released in mid 'disco backlash".It was
a moderate hit in clubs,but
this labor of love should have done better.Recently
interest has sparked up again because of an edit
of "music" by Joey Negro
(or is it Dimitri?)
What's funny,is both of these show up on an import
I picked up a few years ago
along with Quickest Way Out
"who Am I"! It had also
a version of my favorite of the groups cuts called
"thankyou baby for loving me"(alas, not the Tom Moulton mix)that to my knowledge was only released on 45.Of additional interest is two
great Loose Change cuts
"All night man/straight from the heart" that never
show up on anything-so worth seeking out.I think it was called "the sound
of underground new york disco"-or something like that(I need to find it,if
anyone needs the exact title)
enjoy! Thom

I never knew that!
thommy, I think the CD you're talking about is called 'Sounds Like 54 - 27 NY disco cuts' which includes the TJM tracks & 'Thankyou Baby For Lovin Me' by Quickest Way Out but not 'Who Am I'. It's a UK release.
marky, if u like Material's 'Bustin Out', it & many others in that disco/new wavey style are available on a fab double CD on ZE called 'Mutant Disco'; it includes acts like Was (not was), Kid Creole & the Coconuts, Don Armando's 2nd Avenue Rhumba Band, Gichi Dan & Christina (her track 'Disco Clone' is hilarious & includes a spoken part by Kevin Klein!!! :o ).

Woah!!
Was gutted when I read the first post stating the inclusion of only 7" versions of the Jean Carne & Stephanie Mills tracks as I had ordered this CD just the other day mostly for those and thought they would be the extended versions.
However...... reading on I am very excited by inclusion of the Tom Moulton tracks which I don't think I have heard.
Have just noticed that the Carne & Mills extendeds are on the Ben Liebrand CD so shall go for that.
Anybody know whether the Jones Girls 'You're gonna make me love somebody' 12" version appears on any CD's.
Not that I'm aware of. I adore that track and I am lucky enough to have the 12". But....go to Ben Liebrand's site where he's asking to vote on the tracks for the next edition of Grand 12". The Jones Girls are in that list and when he puts them on the next compilation it'll definitely be the extended version.
So, try and cross your fingers:

Cheers!
I've got a couple of copies(UK) of the Jones girls 12" on phil int via CBS, but as much as I love my 12"s. I'd quite like to have it on CD (especially if it's properly mastered).
I'm kinda duplicating a lot of my 12"s with CD, but still hanging on to them in storage as they take up maximum space.
I've just ordered the Leibrand CD's whats the general quality like?
The general quality is very good. The tracks are the original ones and usually in full length. The compilations have something for everybody and he also mentions which version he has used.
All the info is on his site and what you see is what you get.
BTW Ben is an absolute Disco- and Dancemusiclover so he won't fool his public.
Amazon has these reviews from 2 buyers of the Liebrand CD:
Reviewer: DKW "Mr. Pac Dan" (Elmont, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This is truly an incredible collection, and you need not fear the quality. This is fully licensed material and is distributed by Sony Music. It's incredible that they've included some 12" versions that were actually FULL sides of a vinyl LP, running more than 15 minutes. I only have a couple of issues based on what I know about some of this original material. On disc 1, "Let It All blow" by Dazz Band is a minute shorter than on my original 12"!!! I can't figure out why they would edit one of the singles. I noticed the same thing with "Medicine Song" by Stephanie Mills...it's 20 seconds shorter than my original 12". And finally, although "twilight zone" by Manhattan transfer says it's the 12" version, this is the album length. The 12" version ran 30 seconds longer (believe it or not) and I've only seen it available on CD on an out-of-print CD called Atlantic Dance Classics. It's unfortunate that an almost flawless set of 12" singles on CD is, indeed, flawed. Track times are:

I Love the collection that Ben Liebrand has put together. 40 tracks of disco heaven. They sound sooo good. I cherish every cd i have from Ben. Classics from Peter Brown- Love is just a game. Harry Thumann- Underwater & Dan Hartman- Relight my fire (Full 12 minute vocal version. Full twelve inch versions, the best sound quality. Very rare disco singles. Check out www.benliebrand.nl for more information. LOVE IT
& it's the full-length version of Jean Carn, eh Marky?!![]()
Mutant Disco sounds interesting, I like most of the music that came out of what I call "The Savannah Band Family". And several of the artists you mentioned are on a hot dance compilation called "Seize the Beat..Dance ze Dance". It opens with "Bustin Out", and includes titles by Cristina, Coati Mundi, Was (not was) and others. I've been unable to find it on CD though I did see it once, and foolishly didn't buy it. And if I can brag a bit, I also have Gichy Dan's "Beechwood #9", written and produced by August Darnell.
And the Mutants are in da vault :D
