It would be great to see those classic comedies like THE RAG TRADE & ON THE BUSES again... pure classics in the good old days before political correctness got a grip

I always think that some of those 70s comedies like Benny Hill & Are you Being Served & On The buses were hilarious when I was a young kid but when I watch them now I feel a bit emarassed as I don't think they stood the test of time generally.

Unfortunately it ain't on DVD :-? I too loved the 1970s incarnation of the series...The last time I saw any eps, was on the now sadly defunct Granada Plus sat channel.

Did anyone watch a short-lived series called "Jam" - now this was something different, probably the blackest so-called comedy ever to emerge from England, or anywhere else. Those responsible are seriously twisted people. I wish they'd issue all the episodes on dvd.

Here in the states, I remember Benny Hill. The fast-foward movement was soooo' funny.

I noticed no one mentioned Benny Hill__ was it a British show?

British Benny was a major hit and still is!

The man was incredibly original and funny but his show got axed by politically correct lefties that meant that they had to prevent society from people like Benny who dared to pinch a girlie's semi-nude bottom on da telly. BTW, the Hill's Angels were gorgeous and very hot. Youngsters like me have spent many hours before the Television to analyze their dancing skills and their beautiful and big....mmmh's.

All Benny's shows are released on DVD over here and they sell!!! And stations all over Europe are still broadcastings his programs almost daily.

The Benny Hill shows were funny as all hell. Loved watching them as a kid. And who might you ask let me watch them? My dad! He was the most straight-laced person around, but he had to watch his Benny Hill. My mom would just look on in disgust, but I would always catch her smiling or laughing.

I've got nothing against political correctness as without it we'd still be living in the dark ages, but personally I couldn't understand why Benny Hill was classed as sexist because it was always the men in his shows who looked stupid while the women were cool & attractive. :-? Did people protest because he was sexist against men? I can't say I found him that funny but his shows were extremely well produced & put together for the time.
