Hmmm...apart from Secret Service and Army Of Lovers I don't recall any of these. I suppose I should though, since we're practically neighbors

The group Fingerprintz who had the album "Beat Noir" are Swedish?! Just looked at the credits and it looks like a UK outfit to me.

    Hi Bernie!

Maybe there`s two groups with the same name?
The swedish Fingerprints had a couple of hits back in the 80`s!

Fingerprints or Fingerprintz? The latter was a UK act, somewhere between rock and new wave, who were signed to Virgin around '79 - '80. They did 2 albums but had no major hits.

I know Lili & Sussie from your list, I have the 12" for "We Were Only Dancing" which is pretty cute. They look like they've spent a bit too much time in the sunshine on the cover though!

Good one that`s for sure but i think Oh mama(us mix) is better!
Oh mama is for sale if anyone is interested!!
I agree i think they spend most of the time(in the 80`s)in the
sun and try to look as good as possible
Lili is spending most of her time taking care of hurted animals
    during the last years!

I know most of them (and that's nothing I'm proud of)

Paul Rein - Sex, I hate that record.

S.T.O.P - Don't stop (is OK), Kool Katt (is terrible) (I think it was written for a Christer Sandelin "post Style" musical project.

Sandelin/Ekman was writing/producing a lot of dance and pop records for a lot of new swedish artists the years after their great commercial success with the group Style /Freestyle.

Secret Service was huge in Europe.

I'll add a few and see if someone heard of them:

C Sandelin did a decent cover of "Automatic Lover" under the name "Wish"

Savannah-Keep on Lovin me (-79/80) was very "disco" It was a minor hit in Germany.

Can I confess here that I really love Clabbe's grandiose "An Evening In Paris (Decadancing)"?

I like "Keep on Lovin.." apart from the silly accent

I will go through my case of "early 80's Swedish singles" on the next rainy day and see if I come up with something I think is worth mentioning.

Oh, I just LOVE Swedish Disco and also melodic AOR from 80's
Of course there is Europe and Roxette.... they made it in US
But my fave is Secret Service...... SUPER band with 4 great LP's in the late 70's and 80's... tons of great songs and disco/aor melodies

I also LOVE Secret service productions (Norell/oson and later Bard).... Lili and Susie (3 Great English albums) and Ankie Bagger (2 Great English albums).

Also Troll - I only heard Jimmy dean by them... super Disco /Pop

Style - Daylight Robbery and Question of time are great 80's Disco/AOR albums,,, great melodies

Of course Paul Rein... 3 Great LP's...... I guess he was a Teen Idol who produced and wrote all his stuff himself..... This guy had some American R&B style and some italo... but he did it way better than even Geroge Michael himself with those smooth melodies.... this is the kind of artist I would not be ashamed to call my teen idol.

Fake - great Synthpop/italo... sadly never released on CD.. I have some mp3s of Forgs in spain, Wartm Ice....great stuff!

Also Trance Dance - I have 2 great albums by them dancing in the Shadows and A Ho Ho... super catchy synthesixzer Pop-Rock... like Roxette meets Alphaville... reminiscent of Cure too

Also Visitors - I have CD-R of Attention, and Good guys gonna win. Their original Two and Attention CD'S are very hard to find at a decent price.

Go- not sure, I think they are Norwegian, but Voices of Our fantasy is on swedish Sonet label.. sound a bit like A-Ha

Erika - I have Cold Winter night... been meaning to also buy In the arms of a stranger,,, great melodic rock with synths

Tone Norum - I have One of a Kind... great AOR from Joey Tempest

Treat - maybe even better than Europe, I have Dreamhunter and Organized Crime... top-notch Melodic rock

There is also Shanghai, Curacao, Pernilla wahlgren, Shane, Lena Philipsson... I am not too familira with these. They all had English songs.

My Question: Did Freestyle have an English Version of their LP, or was there only an English version of their Fantasi single?

    Found this on the internet
Short Low quality mp3, but Great Swedish Disco/New wave and italo:

    Shanghai - Ballerina
    http://www.discoland.ru/italo/shanghai.mp3

complete with cute nostalgic lyrics too

In a dusty little town not far away
A girl is dancing by the fire every day
    It's a secret
She's hiding in the shadows of the night

On the dancefloor like a candle in the dark
    She pulled the strings
That caused so many broken hearts Ballerina
You only reach the passion if you fight

Ballerina if you're blinded by the light
Don't never ever cut the line between us
Ballerina you're fire in the night
You're name will shine forever Ballerina

All alone she's making moves by candlelight
To the echoes of a song all dressed in white
    She's an angel
Or just another stranger in the night

    Ballerina...

What a nice discovery! I took a fancy to both of them instantly. Especially the first one sounds like Sandra to me. She was and is very popular in Japan, and the Euro Dance, what we call ''Eurobeat,'' with catchy synth riffs, including Swedish ones, were so often played at disco here back in the mid to late 80s, as I clearly remember. Thanks for the posting.

I think the CDs and records including the two tunes are worth looking for, but seem rare and hard-to-find.

Do you remember Lasse Holm's Cannelloni Macaroni from 1986 ? Jesus, what a fine and melodious track that was !

    "Pescatore Vesuvio
    La Busola Bombay
    A-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
    Vad ni frestar mig
    Siciliana al tonne
    Vegetariano
    A-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
    Jag far aldrig nog"
