    Strange percussion effect

There's a strange percussion effect on the song "Dance To Dance" performed by Gino Soccio (1979). It's a quick and almost mechanical sound and very easy to perceive. This strange percussion effect also appears on unknown Hi-NGR "You Set Me On Fire'' sung by Paradise Express (1979). Probably this sound was done by synth :) .

It's not synth; no synth which could produce such a sound existed back then. I'm not sure what it is, but it sounds very much like a metal bowl filled with water being struck. I've heard this used as a sound effect a lot...

Another example is Elton John's "Captain Fantastic & Brown Dirt Cowboy" :)
