Who played that FIERCE PIANO in Eddie Holman's "This Will Be A Night To Remember"?
Someone from the Salsoul gang. Anyone have the LP? I only have the 12", so I don't have the credits.
Hmmm???
Hi folks,
the imaginary disco band hired by the "discomusic.com" user is (provisionally):
Drumms: Earl Young
Bass: Bernard Edwards
Guitar: Nile Rodgers
Percussion: Paulinho da Costa (to bring us luck, huh?)
Now, we have to elect a keyboardist.
So, in your opinion, who is/are the best keyboard player FOR A DISCO BAND?
My choices:
DEODATO - Eumir Deodato, everybody knows....I think!
KASHIF - B.T. Express, Evelin King, Melba Moore, Aretha Franklin, etc.
HUBERT EAVES III - D-train's keyboard player. Just listen to those keyboard lines!
BERNIE WORREL - Parliament/Funkadelic. OK, this is not exactly disco but, this guy kicks some asses on the keyboards!!!
Well, waiting for your choices

Marky,
the keyboardist to this track is the Salsoul keyboardist RON KERSEY. Good choice indeed!
I love his performance on the K-Jee song.
So, one vote to Ron Kersey.

Thanks so much, Blaxman. I've always wanted to know that.
Do you know any more of his credits?
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Marky,
you're basically right, Eddie was backed up by the Salsoul crew:
John Davis - Sax (The Monster Orch. guy)
Carla Benson - Vocals
Evette Benton - Vocals
Don Renaldo - Strings
Bobby Eli - Guitar
Norman Harris - Guitar
Barbara Ingram - Vocals
Ron Kersey - Keyboards
Vince Montana - Vibes
Ron Tyson - Vocals (currently on Temptations)
Larry Washington - Conga
Earl Young - Drums
And some other unknown musicians.
Peace

Thanks again.
Looks like the backup superstar hall of fame!!!
Leon Huff played some great piano on the Philly Intl. stuff, too, right????
Also who played the piano solo on the extended version of Madonna's "Holiday". Really cooks.
I'm at work, so I can't check.

Yes, Leon Huff played piano (basically) in some Philly songs.
And about Madonna's "Holiday" remix, as far as I know the keyboard was played for David Cole (the deceased "C&C Music Factory" guy).
Peace![]()

Blax:
My choice is the keyboard player from Gary's Gang. Not sure if it was Gary Turnier or someone named something like Reno Renetti. Not at home so can't check my album credits. Whoever it was, that's my choice.
Easy,
Sam "ALL JAM"
Hey Blax,
In terms of disco keyboard players, I will go for the keyboard player from T-CONNECTION. I love those keyboard licks on Disco Magic and Do What You Wanna Do. Brilliant.
But am I allowed to mention a couple of jazz keyboard players who did disco records?
If I am allowed, I'd pick LONNIE LISTON SMITH eg Space Princess, or I'd go for CHARLES EARLAND (Remember Let The Music Play?)
Your band is shaping up really nicely!!
If it moves - funk it!!
My vote goes to William Michael Lewis. I also rate him the best arranger.

Blaxman,
I pulled the Madonna LP and credit for the acoustic piano goes to some guy named Fred Zarr. ( He also gets credit for drums, moog bass, OB-X synthesizer, and fender rhodes on that track, "Holiday" --the only one produced by Jellybean Benitez).
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
OK, I checked out some credits for Fred Zarr.
Keyboards & synths for the following:
Tina B.
Cover Girls
Randy Crawford
Empress
Debbie Gibson
Whitney Houston
Johnny Kemp
Madonna
Man 2 Man
Ziggy Marley
Tommy Page
Planet Patrol
Pointer Sisters
Carly Simon
Brenda K. Starr
Strikers
TKA
Village People
and Dionne Warwick.
I don't recall seeing his name before.

Maybe they are different mixes, my credits came from the 1987 LP called "You Can Dance".
BTW, Fred Zarr!?!?! I dont know him too!
Peace.

My vote would be either Giorgio Moroder or whoever did keyboards for all the 70's Petrus productions.
